Super Mario Bros. Cupcakes are almost too cute to eat (...almost)

Oh, how I wish I could take claim for these works of art. Alas, I cannot, so I'll be sure to thank the real artists: Clever Cupcakes of Montreal.

The company provides three cupcake choices for your indulging pleasure: classic, creative, and wholesome. Choose your classic combo from a multitude of cake, frosting, fillings and sprinkles choices; go creative a la Mario Bros.; or keep it health(ier) with the whole-grained goodness of a wholesome cake. The wholesome cakes are made with agave nectar, which has a lower glycemic index than sugar (a fancy way of saying that it won't make your blood sugar spike, resulting in those crazy sugar highs and lows).

Alas, the fresh ingredients and lack of preservatives that make these cupcakes so good is also what makes them unsuitable for shipping - so you can only enjoy them if you live in the Montreal area (or have a really good friend who's willing to send them to you).

Be like Creative Cupcakes and post your photos on the Slashfood's Flickr Photo Pool. C'mon, you know you want to. Everybody's doin' it...

Burger King's King gets creepier, sneakier

I admit that I did not think it was possible for the King, the strangely masked man of Burger King TV commercial fame, to get any creepier. Unfortunately, I was wrong. Burger King is promoting Sneak King, an inexpensive and ad-laden Xbox 360 game that features - you guessed it - the King. Instead of standing around and fraternizing with attractive women, he hides, creeps and sneaks around the virtual world in which he lives, jumping out from behind objects to force burgers on unsuspecting people. The image of being stalked by the King (as seen in the above trailer) is enough to make you sleep with the lights on just to be on the safe side.

The only reason to buy the game ($3.99 at Burger King) is (a) if you just shelled out for an Xbox 360, don't have the budget for better games and are really desperate to play it or (b) you have some crazy fantasy about being the King, which who the player controls in the game. If you're buying it for the first reason, that's somewhat understandable. If it's the second...

Beware of the WonkaZoid, mad scientist Willy is at it again

The WonkaZoid refillable candy dispenser with video game is a combination guaranteed to get your kids hyper and then have something to do with that sugar rush. The hand held video games have multiple compartments to hold various candies like sweetarts and nerds so you can pop some candy and then slap some hockey pucks with your Oompa Loompas. There are four versions of the candy dispenser games available and if they want, your kids can "trick up" the gadgets with a variety of stickers and stuff to make them personal. I'm not sure if I'd like to see my kids blasting away with these WonkaZoids, but with a need for stocking stuffers fast approaching, I bet these will be a sure hit.

Get cooking - with your Nintendo DS

The Nintendo DS Lite is a redesign of a new Nintendo gaming system that is scheduled to have a US release date of June 11th, though it is already available in Japan. Speaking of already available in Japan, there is a game called "Cooking Mama" that has some appeal to us at Slashfood. Unlike Diner Dash, which is a computer game set in a diner, Cooking Mama actually involves cooking. A cute anime-type girl monitors your progress as you slice, dice and prepare over 70 different recipes - all virtually, of course. The recipes can be saved and shared wirelessly with other DS owners. One of the coolest features, though? The game isn't controlled solely with the keypad. When "Mama" asks you to cool something down, you have to blow into the DS's microphone to do it! The game will be released this fall and is expected to retail for under $20.
