A possible trace level milk contamination has led to the recall of Tofutti Brands Yours Truly cones, labeled milk-free, according to a press release by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. People "who have an allergy or severe sensitivity or intolerance to milk products run the risk of serious or life-threatening injury if they consume products with milk ingredients," the FDA states.

This is a precautionary recall of 25 pallets of cones, which were sold along the East Coast and Midwest. The UPC code on the recalled products is: UPC 0-20188-01500-9.

It may look like regular cheesecake, but this is no ordinary dessert. It has minimal fat and no cholesterol, eggs or dairy. The cheesecake is made with silken tofu and Tofutti's Better than Cream Cheese, which gives it a very similar flavor to a "real" cheesecake. Unlike so many other vegan cheesecakes, this one is actually baked in the oven, so it doesn't have that overly gelatinous/tofu texture that so many attempts at veganization produce. Of course, a vegan cheesecake is not going to some out the same as a "real" cheesecake even under the best of circumstances, but if you want a healthy alternative or don't eat eggs or dairy, this recipe is definitely worth a look.
