After I posted about the Pickle Sickle, I came across the above at superlocal's flickr page. It's a picture of a truly great popsicle from Korea. It's watermelon-flavored, and the "seeds" are actually chocolate chips.
We need something like this in the U.S. Regular popsicles and fudgsicles and those things that look like red, white and blue rocket ships are fine, but this is really a work of art. And doesn't it just look refreshing?
Actually, I'm having a flashback to my childhood. I think I had something like this when I was a kid. I'm not sure if it was on a stick or maybe a treat that was watermelon-slice shaped that came in a box. Anyone else remember something like this or am I thinking of something else?

Given that we are un-confirmedly
in the midst of National Burger Month, it is my duty to bring to you, Slashfoodies, a whole buffet of burgers. Today,
super-NYC Gothamist takes us to Landmarc, a new restaurant in the Time Warner Center.
Gothamist Robyn (who also writes her own blog
The Girl Who Ate Everything) reports on a medium rare burger on a grilled, salt-sprinkled brioche bun that made her feel like she "might explode from the intense meat density of the juicy, but not overly so, patty." If you need photographic evidence of the meat intensity, click through and take a peek at her close-up shots of the burger.
And if you have a good tip about a burger this month,
let us know!

If this picture doesn't look like the epitome of homestyle diner food, I don't know what does. The basket of cornbread looks like exactly the sort of thing you'd expect to see on the table at a place that serves really good fried chicken. The picture was taken at a Harlem restaurant called Amy Ruth's, which is known for their fried chicken and waffles, by The Girl Who Ate Everything. She describes it as being very tasty, as well as "fluffy, light, tender and moist enough not to be classified as 'dry'" and it was, in fact, served up just before she and her dining companion tucked into plates of fried chicken, fried okra and mac and cheese. It's more of a Northern-style cornbread than a Southern one, but if it tastes even half as good as it looks, I don't think that too many fried chicken fans will complain if they get this as a side dish.

The Girl Who Ate Everything is a fantastic blog, especially if you're
interested in reviews of (primarily) New York area eateries and food porn. This mac and cheese, for example, was photographed on a recent
visit she paid to Hip Hop Chow. If you want to see all of her photos, head
over to her flickr gallery, otherwise just browse through the
archives on her blog. It is well written and very entertaining, even if you're not in New York. How can you resist when
she captions photos with cute tags, like "innards" and "outtards" for the different views of various dishes.
