Food Blogs - a comprehensive list

Kiplogs Food Blog ListOver the last year, the number of food-blogs has boomed. Where once it was easy to list all those home cooks, wanna-be restaurant critics and wine gurus in a blog's sidebar, now it is impossible to even keep up with the huge number from across the world.

One of the best lists I have found - and one that appears to be kept up-to-date - is maintained by Kiplog. Hundreds of food blogs are listed alphabetically; although I wonder if a geographical organization may be more useful.

For those of us now relying on RSS feeds to do our blog-reading may be interested in the OMPL file I try and keep up to date (download here). It's a big list and you will have to go through the list to select those you want to read on a regular basis. If you trust me as a blog-critic you could subscribe to my three reading lists via the rather excellent RSS reader Blogbridge or cruise along to Food Blog Watch or Wine Blog Watch to view those blogs that have been recently updated.

Food science reading list

For all you food scientists out there, I recently came across a great web site/reading list called Molecular Gastronomy, Kitchen Chemistry and the Science of Cooking. The title pretty much says it all, and the list includes links to books and articles for both the lay-person and the scientist as well as plenty of web resources and other "light" reading. There are plenty of familiar names like Harold McGee, Alton Brown and Robert L. Wolke.

The list is maintained (last updated in November, 2005) by Martin Lersch at the University of Oslo's chemistry department. I wish I could give you more background, but little of the material on the surrounding sites is in English.
