Curves cereal: Photoshop disaster?

Curves CerealThe photo to the right is of a sample-sized box of Curves Honey Crunch cereal. It was featured on the blog Photoshop Disasters.

Looking at the two toned woman, my first thought was that this had to be a joke. This could never have gone to print. However, I confirmed that the same box was found on the Curves Food site.

Then, I read the comments on the Photoshop Disasters blog and someone pointed out that it was a "matching light orange undershirt/camisole/tank top.. not her skin."

Did you have to look twice to see if it was an orange undershirt or was this obvious to you from the get go?

Be sure to leave your thoughts in the comments and not by using the "Tell us what you think" phone number on the box. I don't think that this was the topic Curves had in mind.

Worth 1000 hosts an alternative Thanksgiving

Whether we're cooking dinner ourselves or buying our meals, we all hope for a beautiful outcome: a perfectly golden turkey, creamy mashed potatoes and delicately flaky pie crusts. No one wants a disaster - except the guys over at Worth 1000. Worth 1000 has put up their 4the annual That's Not A Turkey! photoshopping contest entries, all depicting some of the most nightmarish Thanksgiving foods you could imagine, from pies made out of dog food to main courses actually made out of dog. The Hannibal's Thanksgiving entry, pictured here, is one of the most well done and least visually distressing of the dinners submitted.

You might want to wait until after you've eaten (or before, if you want to decrease you appetite a bit), but the gallery is definitely worth a look.

Worth1000 does dessert-meal mashup

A few months ago I wrote about a beef and potato sundae, which many found to be at the very least bizarre, if not completely unappetizing. Worth1000, the Photoshopping web site, has just wrapped up a contest that involved combining dinner with dessert. I came across it while trolling the web last night and, thus, haven't seen the results yet.

In case you haven't figured it out yet, the contestants didn't actually cook anything, rather they manipulated images to combine dinner and dessert. The entries I looked at made the meat sundae seem like a four-star meal. They ranged from a corn dog coated with ice cream and chocolate to Sundae Side Up, a fried egg with stripes of hot fudge whose yolk has been replaced with a scoop of chocolate ice cream.

But the, er, best was the herring in aspic pictured here. Clearly the chocolate coating studded with nuts and the stick were meant to riff on high-end ice cream pops. I fear it may be a while before I look at herring as appetizing.

Worth1000 does food

Photoshopping site Worth1000 recently set their sites on food. The guidelines say that photoshoppers should take ordinary scenes and replace everyday objects with various edibles. As you can see, some of the results are pretty impressive: a keyboard made of s'mores, a banana biplane. These folks have some serious free time, and I'm quite glad they do. As you might imagine, there's more than one soup-related football post...

Tip of the Day

Even though the crust of your pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving turned out flaky and buttery, consider everyone "pie"-ed out. Try these non-pie ways to use up leftover disk of dough.
