There's a new magazine out of France, and it's kinda cool in that weird, hipster-y PoMo sort of way. It's called Yummy, and its calling itself a "JunkFoodDesignMagazine" (because spaces between words are so passé).

The magazine - and web site - are mostly en Français, but obviously, art transcends language, and all that jazz, so your lack of French-speaking skills will not hinder your appreciation - or revulsion - from the site.

The featured art runs the gambit from Whodonut?, Virginia Barre's slightly disturbing illustrations of people living in a fast food nation, to Show Her, which seems to be a big excuse for the artist to show photos of a half-naked woman in a rainstorm, occasionally holding a soda bottle (hence, the food connection, I suppose).

Go check it out - you might just be inspired to make some food art of your own. Or just be really grossed out.

As we've seen, there are museums for all sorts of food-related items: sake, Pez, mustard and moist towlettes, just to name a few. So, it should come as no surprise that there's also a banana museum. Yep, the Washington Banana Museum is in Auburn, WA. Their "virtual museum" features tons of banana ephemera from the collection, including lots of vintage ads, clothing, photographs and assorted tchatckes. According to the website, the museum features around 4,000 banana-related items, all of which are overseen by curator Ann Mitchell Lovell. Everyone needs a hobby...

My favourite food blogging event - Does My Blog Look Good In This - is a monthly food porn photography challenge. The winners for the 14th round have been announced by the Cooking Diva. The picutre here is the winning image - great isnt it! It is by Marcela in Argentina.

Just one point separated this image from the second place winner while two points separated the first place and the third place winner (which was my cheese image; shame I thought for sure I was gonna win - sob). Winners described here while all entrants can be viewed here. The next round is to be hosted by Tomatom in Australia who is having a gastro-fling around Vietnam at the moment but is sure to announce it soon.
