The next best thing to food? Food-scented bath products

I'm embarrassed to admit, but ever since I was little, I've had a thing for deliciously-scented bath products. I've never been a make-up person, and I'd take slacks over a skirt any day of the week. But give me a passion fruit-guava bath and shower gel, and I'm all over it. Working at a bath and body store in high school only compounded this addiction.

Because I'd like to think of myself as a connoisseur of food-scented bath products, I can't be bought off with any old strawberry bubble bath or vanilla body spray. Heavens, no. I spring for the unique, the out-of-the-ordinary, the extraordinary. Exotic fruits and unusual pairings make for some fantastic soapy products. Go ahead, take a peek, and then pick up some confectionery concoctions just in time for Valentine's Day. But I have to warn you: when the bottles are empty, the withdrawal symptoms set in, so make sure you stock up.

Get into the spirit with whisky perfume

At Luxist, Deidre reported that a new scent called the Spirit of Scotland is to go on sale soon. Following in the footsteps of another unusual scent, the Spirit of Scotland is supposed to smell like malt whisky. While people have sample the scent and given it positive reviews, not everyone feels that it actually smells like whisky. Apparently, it has smoky, peaty notes with floral overtones. Honestly, it seems like you wouldn't want to walk around smelling like whisky all day, so it's probably just as well that the perfume is not an exact match for the spirit. Of course, if you already walk around smelling like whisky and are looking for a way to hide that, this could be the perfect product.

Eau de Stilton

stiltonYou couldn't make this up - a cheese producer is to release a perfume redolent of Stilton cheese!

The Stilton Cheese Makers Association (whose website is a mine of info on the cheese) has created the perfume in a bid to encourage people to eat more blue stilton as part of their STICK ON THE STILTON promotion campaign for 2006. I have just emailed the PR company for a sample...

Nigel White, from the Stilton Cheese Makers Association, comments: "Blue Stilton cheese has a very distinctive mellow aroma and our perfumier was able to capture the key essence of that scent and recreate it in what is an unusual but highly wearable perfume that we are very proud to put our name to."

The SCMA has approached television presenter Cat Deeley to be the face of Eau de Stilton and a sample has been sent to her for her consideration. OK, so we laugh but it sounds interesting don't you agree?
