Food Porn: Green Papaya Salad

One of the things I look forward to the most when eating at a Thai or Laotian restaurant is the green papaya salad. This pungent mix of fish sauce, lime, chilis, dried shrimp, and green papaya strips never fails to make a bright burst on my palate along with some sticky rice. Plus, the papayas strips are very refreshing, and makes a nice starter dish, or a side dish to accompany the main entree. The recipe itself is quite simple, and would make a great addition to any Asian influenced meal at home.

What Food Month Is It?

natiional chicken monthSure you know what month it is but what food month is it?  This list breaks out the year of food celebrations. September is  not just Better Breakfast Month and All-American Breakfast Month it's also Prune Breakfast Month (yuck). Celebrate poultry because it's also Chicken Month. And vegetarians aren't left out since it's Mushroom Month, Honey Month, Rice Month, Papaya Month. And starch lovers prepare to indulge because it is biscuit and potato month too.
