CBS brings televisions to fine dining

screen grab of CBS story on CBS Scene
On more nights than I'd like to admit, Scott and I succumb to the blue flicker of the television screen while eating dining. We park ourselves on the couch with our plates and watch Jeopardy or reruns of The Daily Show. But when we go out to eat, we avoid places with TVs, knowing that we get plenty of tube viewing time in at home.

However, CBS has recently opened a restaurant where the point is to watch television while you eat. Over the weekend, they opened a 15,000-square-foot restaurant that will serve upscale pub food and will prominently feature approximately 130 high-definition televisions. Included in that number are table-side flat-screens programmed with CBS content, so that you can choose from 60 years worth of CBS programming while you dine.

The restaurant, called CBS Scene, has been opened in partnership with New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft and is located in Foxborough, MA, adjacent to Gillette Stadium. Video about the new restaurant is after the jump (it starts playing as soon as you open the page).

Slashfood Bowl: New York and New England face off

header from super bowl website
This Sunday, fans from across the country will be glued to their televisions as the New York Giants and the New England Patriots face off in the Super Bowl. Here at Slashfood, we are approaching the Super Bowl from the snack table, facing off the tastes and treats from New York and New England. I'll be representing New York (it's particularly appropriate, since I'm spending the latter half of the week in Brooklyn) and our own Sarah J. Gim (a two-time veteran of the Slashfood Bowl) will be writing and eating on behalf of New England.

Will New York, with its mile-high cheesecake, chewy bagels and black and white cookies reign supreme? Or will New England trounce the Big Apple with creamy clam chowder, Boston Brown Bread and dark, molasses cookies? In the spirit of the Iron Chef, let the Bowl begin!

Are you ready for some hot dogs?

Tom BradyThe New England Patriots have started their own line of meats. Along with "Academy Award winner Rob Schneider," that's a line I never thought I'd see in print.

The football team is going to start selling their own meat products at Gillette Stadium this upcoming season, which starts in a few weeks. Not only hot dogs, but also bratwurst and sausages too. The foods will have cute names like "Patriots First Down Beef Frank" and "Patriots Sack Attack Mild Sausage." Of course, those two names make no sense whatsoever, either in food or football terms. One of the names that was turned down was "Patriots Pigskinz," and I think that's the best name in the bunch.

What, no Brady Brats? No Seymour Sausage? Come on!
