For those unfamiliar with this retro childhood treat, the creamsicle combines a vanilla ice cream interior and a fruit-flavored exterior set on a popsicle stick. The first creamsicle was orange flavored, but today creamsicles run the gamut in terms of taste, with lime, grape, orange and raspberry being the most popular flavors.
Like many culinary creations, this portable frozen treat was discovered by surprise, when 11-year-old Frank Epperson left his drink to chill in the freezer with a stirrer inside it. He originally dubbed the treat a "Epsicle," which was later renamed the popsicle.
The classic dessert is readily available in the frozen aisle of your grocery store -- or you may raid your alcohol cabinet for an adult, potable version.
