I posted about McDonald's Talk, a LiveJournal community of McD's employees, back in March, but I hadn't looked at it lately. Fast Food News recently posted an excerpt from a list of "things not to do when visiting a mcdonalds" created by McDonald's employee in Louisiana and recently posted on McDonald's Talk. Perhaps my favorite of the nearly 50 subtle suggestions is: "Does this look like Toys-R-Us? Who cares if your kid's got 10 of the same toy already. That's telling me you don't feed them at home enough!" Some commenters to the original LJ post even included links to their own lists of McDon'ts, like this one."livejournal" news and stories
Some 'McRules' for McDonald's

Baking with Cadbury eggs?
Continuing with the trend of bloggers doing strange things with Cadbury eggs, here's a LiveJournal
user named shmivejournal who recently baked a cake with
Cadbury eggs instead of regular eggs. This inventive young man's hypothesis: "THIS IS GOING TO BE SO
AWESOME." His conclusion: "For some reason, this cake tastes vaguely like Novocaine." I'm not sure what
it is about Easter candy that brings out the mad scientist in people, but I'm glad it'll be over soon. [Photo: shmivejournal]

McGriddle fan fiction
Sure, the fast food industry has recently spurred non-fiction books, documentaries and plenty of investigative
journalism, but fan fiction? In a similar vein to the LiveJournal community of McDonald's employees, here's an LJ community
composed solely of fan fiction based around the
McGriddle breakfast sandwich. Really. There's some sci-fi, some suspense, even McGriddle haiku and jokes. For instance:
"Q: What do you get when you line up 8 McGriddle Breakfast Sandwiches in a row? A: MMMMMMMM!" I also
particularly enjoyed the short story involving the Hamburgler reflecting on his past while "Lying in his cell,
doing a "dollar value menu" upstate."

McDonald's LJ community
To me, LiveJournal has always seemed a venue for angst and commiseration. Narrowing that down a bit, I recently
discovered that there's a LJ community called McDonald's
Talk, where those that labor beneath the golden arches can share their McDonald's job experiences with their
compatriots. The heading reads "i'm hatin' it," and as you might expect, there's quite a bit of
grumbling—abusive managers, numb-skull coworkers, etc.—but the site also serves as a good place for
employees to get advice from other McD's veterans. Some recent questions included new employees wondering what to
expect on their first day and managers trying to figure out the best way to change locations. The responses from other
readers are plentiful as well. All in all, it's a pretty interesting look into working world of McD's.
