Hickory Smoked Cherry & Bourbon Lemonade: A hot, cool summer drink

Well, there's two words I never thought I'd see in the same name of a drink, "hickory" and "lemonade."

This drink over at AOL Food seems to combine the best of a summer barbecue and the refreshing offerings at a kid's lemonade stand! Not sure how easy it is to get smoked cherries where you are (I never heard of them before this, except when describing wine), but it's a main ingredient. Recipe after the jump.

Simply Lemonade & Simply Limeade Review

This past summer I tried Simply Lemonade and Simply Limeade, two new products from the Simply Orange Juice Company. I usually make my lemonades and limeades from scratch, but when I saw these I gave them a chance and was quite surprised. They tasted almost like I had made them myself, chock full of zesty and tangy citrus flavor and very refreshing.

Now December isn't the time of year I would normally talk about lemon and limeade but these make great mixers for either an adult or children's holiday punch. With their tart, real citrus flavor they bring some depth to what would normally be a boring punch. I used a mix of the two with red wine and splash of dark rum and I very suddenly became quite festive. The punch goes great with any type of celebration: winter, spring, summer, or fall.

Colima, Mexico vies for world's largest limeade

Look out Victoria, Australia. The state of Colima, Mexico, has you in its sights. No, they're not looking to attack. Colima wants to beat Victoria's Guinness Record for the world's largest limeade.

Victoria's limeade clocked in at 2,500 liters. Colima is shooting for more than 3,500 liters of Mexican style limeade. It is worth noting that I am becoming thirsty as I write this. In order to prepare the gargantuan thirst quencher, 330 liters of Colima limes will be freshly cut and squeezed before an audience. The juice will then be combined with 56 liters of natural sweeetener and more than 3,000 liters of water.

The drink will be prepared in a plastic container measuring 1.46 meters in diameter and 2.46 meters tall. No word yet as to whether David Blaine plans to submerge himself in the vat of refreshing citrus beverage.
