Keyboard for the geeky chocoholic

chocolate keyboard
I'm not quite sure if this concept could be a functional keyboard because really, wouldn't the chocolate melt from the heat of the computer, and get all over the user's fingers?

Okay, so even though it's a concept, it isn't really meant to be a working keyboard anyway. It's just something cute for that special geek in your life who happens to love chocolate. Hopefully, they'll actually make these in time for Valentine's Day!

Breakfast in bed for computer geeks?

For those of us you who can't seem to step away from the computer for longer than a half hour at a time, you may appreciate the keyboard-shaped waffles this design by Chris Dimino produces. His challenge was to apparently breathe new life into an otherwise outdated product (in this case, a typewriter) and created this functioning waffle iron. I think that qualifies as a whole new level of playing with your food.

Keyboard food tray

Some of you might recall a post a few months back about the worst foods to eat over your keyboard. Well, designer Duck Young Kong has come up with something akin to a T.V. tray that might protect your keyboard from your lunch. As you can see, it can hold your food and still leave room for you to type. Is this convenient? Probably. Is it a surefire way to get your greasy, grilled-cheese-hands all over your keyboard? You bet. It still looks like a recipe for disaster to me.

Bad foods to eat over your keyboard

We've all done it before--eaten at our computer. Perhaps we sneak a bagel in at work, or a muffin, or even a crunchy oatmeal bar. But have you ever tried cleaning your keyboard after years of crumbs have accumulated? It's not a pretty sight. TechRepublic has an article nominating the worst foods to eat while typing at your computer. Some of the winners were jelly, seeds, pasta, and flake bars. I'm sure there are even worse things to eat over a keyboard than what they missed, like chips.

At the end, they talk about some tips to clean your keyboard, including canned air, vacuuming, and using a dishwasher. What are some of your techniques to get out those pesky little crumbs?

A chocolate keyboard for the festive geeks

Continuing the trend of weird food items that look like objects (or objects that look like food items), I present to you the 12 oz. chocolate keyboard. It even has all the keys marked correctly. Although, I don't see a number pad or arrow keys. It also comes with a 5 oz. chocolate mouse. And yes, they also have chocolate band-aids; however, I don't suggest putting these on your wounds. Prior to finding these sites, I never knew there was a market for food related bandage items, but apparently, they seem to be quite popular.
