Roger Moore Takes Aim at Foie Gras

Oh James!

It turns out one of Her Majesty's secret agents lived the high life only in the movies. The James Bond of the 1970s, Roger Moore, won't eat foie gras, and he won't speak to friends who do either.

"Before I knew how it was produced I would often pick at it at parties just because it was on offer -- though I never ate too much of it because of its huge calorific content," he writes Tuesday in an op-ed in the Daily Mail. "Since I have understood the cruelty attached to its production I have never touched it again. I now boycott restaurants where it is served."

Briefcase Grill - the latest in portability

Imagine leaving your office with your co-workers, trying to decide where to have lunch, and in one swift James Bond-like maneuver you convert your briefcase into a portable grill. Lunch is served. I do have to ask just how portable you really need want your grill to be, but I am sure it is convenient for camping and holidays. Actually, when I look at this I can't help but think tailgate party.

According to Gizmodo, the grill is made of pressed steel and folds out to reveal a 45 x 30cm cooking area. It'll run you $40 on it's own, or for an extra $10 you can acquire the black carry-case with shoulder-strap.

Here's a guide to what James Bond likes to eat and drink

Casino RoyaleA while back I gave you the recipe for James Bond's Scrambled Eggs, and that got me thinking if there was a site devoted to all the other stuff that 007 likes to eat and drink. And there is.

You can find out the recipe for his martini, of course (though did his drink really contain both vodka and gin?) and find out how to serve caviar the right way. You can even get some idea on throwing a James Bond theme party and take a Bond food quiz.

The site has to be updated though. There's still a picture of Pierce Brosnan on the front page.

James Bond has a beer for a change

Free from the shackles of the shaken-not-stirred vodka martini, former James Bond portrayer Pierce Brosnan is currently starring in Bond-like ads for Portuguese beer Cerveja Sagres. The first dialog-free ad features Brosnan fixing dinner for a lady friend (model Laura Mansfield) and running out at the last minute to grab a sixer of Sangres. Realizing he has no cash, he pays the clerk with an enormous diamond. The Sangres site is loaded with music reminiscent of 007 films and even has downloadable versions of the ad (even for your iPod), entitled "Diamantes." Yahoo! News UK has more here.
