Iron Chef Japan Grand Battle Week
COMMENTS 1
Next week, we'll get to see the best of the best try to best each other. Iron Chef Japan, one of our favorites, is having a civil war on Fine Living Network! It's Grand Battle Week!
Five Iron Chef Japan chefs, including Morimoto, will battle it out against each other every night at 11pm Eastern for Grand Battle Week, December 8-12.
Fine Living Network is doing an excellent job of feeding our Iron Chef Japan addiction. Our favorite so far was Attack of the Vegetables week when they aired "Cooking Japanese Like Morimoto," an ingenious cover of "Turning Japanese" by The Vapors.
Here's how the Google translator says Grand Battle Week in Japanese.
????????
And here are some other things it says:
Slash Food: ???????
I Haven't Changed My Facebook Status in Hours: ???????Facebook???????????????
Pass the Imitation Crab: ????????
This is really only fun for a little while. Whatever. Watch Iron Chef Japan.

It's Alive! Iron Chef will freak you out next week
They're slippery. They're slimy. And they're alive.
This coming week, Fine Living Network will be airing episodes of our favorite Iron Chef Japan in which creatures of the deep are battled every night at 11/10 Central. Watch as these chefs attack and cook living sea creatures in a way that makes you wonder if you're a bad person for watching. This is an excellent week for anyone who hasn't had enough Halloween, or likes Animal Planet and wishes Japanese chefs could be involved.
Not for the squeamish, these squirmy seafoods do get slaughtered right in front of your very eyes. Mother nature would be proud watching the food chain established so aggressively, but your mother might think you need therapy. You be the judge!
Oh, and click here for the Iron Chef Drinking Game.

Cooking Japanese like Morimoto!
Cooking Japanese I think I'm cooking Japanese like Morimoto!
Sing it with me.
Cooking Japanese I think I'm cooking Japanese like Morimoto!
Fine Living Network is featuring Iron Chef Japan nightly at 11pm and grouping episodes into themed weeks. This week is Attack of the Vegetables Week! Definitely a must-see. Japan has some crazy-cool vegetables to begin with, and watching them get cooked up on Iron Chef is guaranteed to please.
Attack of the Vegetables Week starts Monday, October 20th, and my guess is that this song will still be in your head.
Is that cod roe?

Iron Chef Japan is back!
I know you've all been waiting with baited breath for the return of Iron Chef Japan. Well here it is! It's not going to be on Food Network anymore though. Nope, now you'll be able to catch it on the Fine Living channel.Starting on May 5, you can watch all of the amazing craziness of Iron Chef Japan every week night at 11pm. In the meantime, you can indulge your Iron Chef craving by watching some video clips, you know, just to tide you over til next week.
Even though I really love Iron chef America, I'm glad that the original is coming back on the air. There really is not much on TV like it, unless you know where to catch Most Extreme Elimination challenge. You can't beat the secret ingredients, the sweat, the dubbing and ,of course, the original Chairman!

Slashfood Ate (8): Reasons why the Food Network still has my attention

Some of us love the Food Network. Some of us want to hate it, but can't. I am of the latter group. I want to ban the channel from my television for some of the things they have done to my viewing pleasure (Iron Chef! Bring back Iron Chef!), but I can't. I just can't do it because there are a few things that still capture my attention:
- I love watching Michael Chiarello throw together some seriously delicious looking Napa-terranean meals; better yet, I love watching him stroll through the vineyard in his jeans, caressing his grapes. (Oh my, did I blog that second part out loud?!?!)
- Tyler Florence is hot. I'd like to be Tyler's Ultimate.
- There is a rumor that the original Iron Chef is coming back (it is on the schedule at 4 am right now). Not confirmed, but a rumor is better than nothing.
- Paula Deen's food scares my fat cells, but she is too adorable when she is cooking with her sons.
- Alton Brown is good eats.
- They will have Nigella Lawson some time this year
- By some glorious semi-homemade alignment of the stars, every time I turn the television on, Sandra Lee is not scheduled (unfortunately, Rachael Ray is, but that's a different post).
- Even though I am not a fan of Giada de Lauentiis, I like her taste in kitchens and clothes.
