Miniature food items never fail to totally charm me. Pecan tassies are my favorite cookies, primarily because of their status as pint-sized pecan pies. In today's photo, Rebekah has made some adorable (and very tasty-looking) individual apple pies in ramekins. She claims that it was her first attempt at apple pie, but I would tend to doubt her assertion, since they came out looking so flaky-crusted and perfect.

Travel-sized foods

I recently stumbled across Minimus, an online retailer that specializes in individually wrapped foods designed for travel. I don't know that I'll ever need to mail-order a single packet of Saltines or two Grissini breadsticks ($0.06 and $0.11, respectively), but having a few packets of Frank's Red Hot Hot Sauce in the glove box or carry-on bag might not be a bad idea. The Minimus FAQ also states quite clearly that "[n]one of our items are from hotel guests or from restaurant tables." Still, it seems like some of these things aren't usually offered for individual sale. The disposable tea stick seems kind of cool, although I don't know why it would be any better than a regular tea bag. Like the entire site, maybe it's the novelty that's drawn me in.

Worried about GM Easter chocolates or just generally concerned for the environment? This Easter take a look at the Hoppy Treats from Endangered Species. These individually wrapped chocolates are .35-ounces of socially responsible goodness. All Endangered Species chocolate is ethically traded to ensure fair wages and good working conditions for farmers and employees and the chocolates are all-natural. The chocolates come in milk and dark varieties. The dark chocolate is 70% cocoa content and is certified kosher. The milk chocolate has a 52% cocoa content and is also certified kosher. They sell for $5.50 per pack of 24 candies.
