Don't Dilute! - Tip of the Day
Chill your drinks with a cold and slick bullet
There are all sorts of things out there to keep your drinks cold that go well beyond simple cubes of ice. Over the years, we've seen naughty ice trays, slick water-free globes, and even, believe it or not, rocks. But what about the clear chill of ice bullets?UberReview has shared a new way to make ice -- the AK Ice Tray, which molds water into AK-47 ice ammo. It's not a new way to slay your opponents, but it would make a mixed drink look pretty sleek. Just imagine -- a ring of bullets with some tasty liquor poured over it, a bucket full of bullets for a gangster shindig, or the perfect gift for a gun toter. Not bad for under $15.
Bite the bullet, baby!

Jazzy ice cubes - chill and stir with one product

Ice molds available for $8 from Calliope serve a dual function. Not only do you get a cool guitar shaped ice cube to keep your drink cold, but also the handle of the guitar can be used as drink stirrer. Rock on!!
I think it would be fun to make guitar-shaped popsicles with these molds. I do wish, however, that more than three came in a package. I'd like a big party pack for a summer party with all of the guitar handles in different colors. That way, they could serve as a way to identify your drink.

Tip of the Day: A few fun ice cube ideas
Lego my... kitchen gear
Legos are an icon of childhood for most of us, whether you were the one building elaborated fantasy worlds or your children are/were. Like just about every other product you can think of, Lego seizes just about any opportunity for merchandising that it sees and has moved out of the playroom and into the kitchen. Earlier this year, we saw some Lego Eggos, but now the company is offering us real kitchen gear, like ice cube trays shaped like Legos and salt and pepper shakers shaped - somewhat disturbingly - as Lego-men heads. They also have a Lego Apron, which is not made of Legos, but features the classic body of a Lego person on it, a set of Lego coasters and Lego corkscrews for opening wine (probably not something you want your kids to see in case they mistake them for toys).
All this Lego gear is a lot of fun to have around and definitely gives a new twist to playing with your food. The only way that this stuff could be more fun is if the ice cubes were stackable, though it should only take a little water to get them to stick together long enough to build a small tower. You'll need more than one tray for a fort.
I see your heart-shaped spoons, and I raise you heart-shaped ice-cube trays

Have you seen Target's new dollar store competition: the dollar section? I sure have, and I know as well as anyone
that it's impossible to pass up the siren song of cute kitchenware for $1. Especially when it's heart-shaped.
Sarah Gim raved over heart-shaped measuring spoons just now, so I knew it was time to contribute my find: these pink-and-white heart-shaped ice cube trays I saw at a recent visit to Target. This wasn't the only $1 kitchenware I saw... I'll introduce you to the cutest red heart measuring cups in a later post (my three-year-old is cooking with them in style).
