Beaujolais Nouveau - The Hello Kitty Version

Hello Kitty Beaujolais NouveauYesterday I posted about the annual release of Beaujolais Nouveau--and why I think you should try a Cru Beaujolais instead. Some commenters told me that they'll stick with the Nouveau version, and that's totally cool. Especially if you live in Japan, where you can get Beaujolais Nouveau with a Hello Kitty logo. As if that's not a sweet enough deal, the bottle is also plastic, a much more environmentally friendly shipping container, especially for an inexpensive wine meant to be drunk immediately like Beaujolais Nouveau.

It may surprise some to hear that plastic is greener than glass--after all, glass is 100 percent recyclable. But, according to research by Tyler Colman, aka Dr. Vino, plastic is much less carbon-intensive overall because it's lighter to ship.

In a moment of "eat my words," I'll admit today what I wouldn't have yesterday: if I came across the Hello Kitty plastic bottle, I'd be tempted to buy it. It's pretty cute, no?

Holy Hello Kitty hotness in a bento box

hello kitty bento
Originally, I was going to call this post "Kitty Porn," but in the wrong context, it just wouldn't be right.

Kitty Porn or not, this is quite possibly the most elaborate, intricate bento box I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot of bento boxes. Not only is it Hello Kitty (you all know how much I love the little white, mouthless kitty, right?), but it's Hello Kitty in a lettuce (maybe it's cabbage?) leaf Totoro costume, surrounded by all the flowers, bugs and creatures of the forest. I have no idea if someone actually got to eat this masterpiece. All I know is that the most elaborate bento lunch I'd ever get is Mr. Bento.

Hello Kitty Patisserie makes you inner girlie girl squeal

hello kitty patisserieSomeone please tell me why I have never seen a Hello Kitty Patisserie in the United States. Why? Why?!?

I know. It sounds ridiculous. And I can't believe that when I read about it over on A Hungry Girl's Guide to Taipei, I actually felt the my inner little girlie girl shriek with delight. She many have even clapped her tiny hands together. All of the pastries are adorned in some way with the little mouthless kitty that we all love, whether the image is stamped into the dough, or accessorized with some candy, kitty-shaped confection. The bakery wraps your purchases up and send you off with a giant Hello Kitty bag.

Does it taste good? Who cares? It's Hello Kitty! (But according the Hungry Girl, some were forgetable, while others were "actually pretty tasty").

Hello Kitty water cooler dispenses 8 glasses

hello kitty water coolerThough I came across this pretty pink Hello Kitty water cooler on a baby site, I couldn't help but covet it for myself. Sure, I am drawn to all things pink, and I have a special attraction to the mouthless feline, but this water cooler is also a good way to make sure you are getting your eight glasses of water a day because it holds exactly eight glasses. Just fill it up, place it on your desk or counter, and make sure that by the end of the day, it is empty.

Or, you know, you can buy it for your kids.

The Hello Kitty water cooler is $19.99 at Best Buy.
