"gmc stadium" news and stories

Illinois ballpark serves Luther Burgers

As if a day of ballpark food like chili dogs, nachos and beer wasn't enough to wreck you, GMC Stadium, home of Sauget, Illinois' Gateway Grizzlies (of the Frontier League) serves a bacon cheeseburger on a Krispy Kreme doughnut. This blockage on a bun is better known to some of you as a Luther Burger, named after the late Luther Vandross. I recall rumors of this burger making the rounds on the internet a few years ago. Snopes confirms that it is, in fact, a real thing and it hails from Mulligan's, a bar in Decatur, Georgia. The details of how it became associated with the sultry crooner are cloudy—some say he invented it, others say it was just a favorite of his. At any rate, Grizzlies fans can apparently order one up from the GMC Stadium concession stand. They call it "Baseball's Best Burger."
