Now that we've seen the paper cup that isn't a paper cup in order to reduce waste, how about plastic bottles that aren't plastic bottles? Italian design house Seletti has created glass water bottles made to look like the plastic water bottles we use then dump. Because they're glass, I doubt they're meant for us to throw into our backpacks and take with us, so they don't necessarily help us reduce our waste of portable plastic bottled water, but at a holding capacity of 1 liter each, they're great for serving water or other beverages at the table or bar.

I spotted this great set of Cheers Shot Glasses over at Luxist. Made by Waterford, each of the glass shot glasses is engraved with a different way of saying "cheers!" In addition to English, the other languages are Gaelic - slainte!, Spanish - salud!, Italian - cin cin!, Japanese - kan-pai! and German - prost! Onion goggles don't have the same effect as, say, beer goggles do. Much like swimming goggles, they have a foam seal around the edges that is designed to keep things out. In this case, they keep out the tear-causing onion fumes and allow you to see clearly as you do your prep work in the kitchen.

Your eyes water when you cut onions because the onion cells have enzymes that, when released, turn into irritating gasses. Once the gas reaches your eyes, the body starts producing tears to cleanse them.

You could still choose to wear swimming goggles to get the same effect, but thebenefit of choosing these is that they simply slip on like regular glasses and don't have an elastic band holding them in place. Plus, white plastic glasses with foam padding are simply all the rage this season. Didn't you know?

Alphabet soup is a favorite for many kids, despite the fact that it always seems to look much better than it tastes. And if you taste it after the age of 8? Well, let's just say that the pasta-and-sauce concoction is not meant for adult taste buds. With this alphabet soup cutting board, you can still enjoy the nostalgic look of the soup-like concoction, without having to taste it. This drink cooler is a neat thing to have for a number of reasons. This giant red wine glass can, of course, act as a cooler for wines, sodas and beer at parties, but it can also serve as a prop for improve comics or be used as an actual glass for those who like their drinks strong. Really, really strong. The cooler is very stable and made of acrylic, so you don't have to worry about it breaking in the event that someone knocks into it. It can fit at least 5 bottles of wine, in addition to ice, and at least a dozen sodas.

Incidentally, I am amused that though the cooler is named after its red wine glass shape, it is being used to chill several bottles of white wine. Perhaps an alternative name could be the Giant White Wine Red Wine Stem Cooler, or is that getting too silly?
