Gingerbread Men and Pork Tenderloin - The Philadelphia Inquirer in 60 Seconds
It's Gingerbread Day!

Gingerbread: one of those foods that most of us only eat around the holidays. It comes in many forms: shaped like a loaf of bread, shaped like square cookies, shaped like human beings with really round heads and outstretched arms. You can even make a big house made out of gingerbread and then eat it (or just look at it).
Today is Gingerbread Day, and since it's right around the holidays maybe you can make some gingerbread men instead of just going to the store and buying them. Here's a recipe from Annie's Gingerbread Page for Crunch-Top Gingerbread, from the 1953 edition of the Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook. You can also make Gingerbread Man Ornaments (which are not edible because they include glue!). SouthernFood.about.com has a recipe for Gingerbread, and here's a recipe for Gingerbread Men from JoyOfBaking.com.
Gingerbread, without the house
We always associate gingerbread with either Gingerbread houses or Gingerbread men. But how about a cake or cookies or a cobbler or pancakes?
Our friends over at AOL Food have some recipes for gingerbread you might not have thought of doing. Like the Gingerbread Cake with Blueberry Sauce and some Gingerbread Pancakes with Pears and Yogurt. The Apple-Gingerbread Cobbler looks like the perfect thing to eat on a cold winter's night in front of the fire (OK, the television).
There are also recipes for Gingerbread Snowflake Cookies that would look great on your Christmas table or on the tree.

Plus, I have to tell you: I adore ginger cookies of all sorts. "Soft gingerbread cookies" spoke volumes to me. And look, just look at the nice chocolate coating. The bottom of the cookie looks a little odd - almost like a thin piece of white paper on the bottom of the cookie. What is that?

I went to Trader Joe's last night to get a couple of things for dinner. But there were so many good things on the new products shelf! I picked up one. Then another. And then I figured, why not? I'm doing it for you. I'll be reviewing some delicious (or maybe not so much) things including:
- Chocolate-flavored tea
- Mexican Chili from the new One Pot Sauce
- Decadent chocolate frosting
- Spiced gingerbread cookies, chocolate-covered
