Woman fired for giving "Timbit" to toddler

The woman, an employee of a Tim Hortons coffee and donut chain in Toronto, gave a fussy toddler the tiny, 16-cent donut (called a "Timbit") to eat, and was promptly fired by her overzealous manager.

The woman said she would have paid for the donut, but the store was busy and she had to work.

As soon as Tim Hortons' corporate offices heard of the firing, they quickly issued a statement that the firing was a mistake (it was implied that the woman was re-hired).

Seriously, though: who would want to go back and work for that maniac? Whatever happened to the customer coming first?

Hopefully, the woman will be able to get away from the boss with the anger management issues, and get a better job. Like at the local IHOP.

McDonald's employee simulator

If you missed the opportunity to flip burgers in high school, you can have a second chance without quitting your day job. Alternatively, you can flip burgers while you "work" at your day job. Just use the McDonald's employee simulator. Start your day off with the ringing of your alarm clock, and click your way through your routine: breakfast, driving to work and, of course, making the burgers.  If you're having fun, you can even work overtime for an extra $5! The game isn't as riveting as Diner Dash, but then again, probably neither is working at McDonald's - especially when you don't get to interact with the customers to break up the monotony.

Here's an incentive for playing, though: If you make it to the end of the game, you'll learn that McDonald's employees have scary dreams.

Drive-through rage

A Miami Burger King employee ripped off his headset and climbed through the drive-through window to attack a customer after an argument erupted over correct change. According to the Miami Herald, Burger King employee Michael Perez claims that the Kevin Gillis, who was buying two orders of fries for his three young daughters, also in the car, addressed him with a racial slur after the two argued over Gillis's change. Enraged, Perez came through the window, reached into Gillis's truck and punched him in the face. Gillis then got out of his truck and tackled Perez, fearing for the safety of his wife and daughters, who had also exited the truck. Perez was subsequently arrested.
