Total decadence in convenient candy/snack form

frito candy from Cookie Madness
Elizabeth of Foodaphilia, creator of the very impressive and drool-worthy Elvis cake, is at it again. Inspired to head to the kitchen by a recipe Anna posted last February on Cookie Madness, she whipped up a batch of Frito Candy. I am intrigued by this recipe as it mixes savory and sweet together in a totally appealing way (I also like the fact that it pulls peanut butter into the mix).

I love that the star of this recipe is a cup of Fritos. After having listened to the Kitchen Sisters podcast about the birth of the Frito, I think that the man who invented the Frito would approve of this recipe, as he was a big proponent of using his product in recipes and new food creations.

If you decide to whip this recipe up over the weekend, make sure to post a picture of it to our Flickr group so we can see the results!

Food Porn: The FlufferNutter Cake

a fluffernutter cake, with peanut butter chips on topWhen I post about tantalizing food creations that other people out there are making and writing about, I like to try and be fair. I don't want to play favorites or spend too much time featuring one particular blog, because there are so many amazing cooks and writers out there who deserve attention and a little bit of limelight. So I readily admit that I am breaking my own rule with this post because I just recently wrote about the Elvis cake. But, come on, it's a FlufferNutter cake. You wouldn't have been able to resist either.

E from Foodaphilia has been at it again, this time whipping up a FlufferNutter cake for the cafe she bakes for. Check out that picture, with those pools of marshmallow fluff leaking out the bottom of the cake, crying out for someone to dash a finger through them. My friend Ingrid is a big fan of marshmallow fluff sandwiches, I am making this for her the next time she's in town.

A cake Elvis (and the rest of us) would love

banana cake frosted with peanut buttercream frosting, dotted with chocolate chips
In my travels through the interwebs yesterday, I stumbled across this gorgeous banana, chocolate and peanut butter cake. E bakes for a little cafe in the Northern Liberties section of Philadelphia, and when faced with a bunch of overripe bananas, she drew inspiration from a cupcake that another blogger made back in January to create this cake. Every time I look at the photos of it, a part of me wants to leap up and head to the kitchen to recreate it myself.
