Cooking Up the Mother of Egg-and-Cheese Sandwiches

Tater Tots? Did someone say Tater Tots? The boys at Slate V, Dan Pashman and Mark Garrison, needn't have said more than that. We're sold. This breakfast sandwich they dub the Mother, has so many layers, they say, it's geologic, "like looking back in time." We want one, stat.

Head over to slatev.com for Dan and Mark's egg-a-thon at the Gastro Lab to learn how to make a bagel hold your oozing egg, and other ideas on how to make breakfast kick it.

Happy National Egg Day!

The "Incredible Edible Egg" is not only nutrient-dense, but offers higher quality protein than any other food, making it a healthy option for just 70 calories. According to some, the chef's toque is said to "have a pleat for each of the many ways you can cook eggs," ranging from breakfast preparations (scrambled, poached, fried, baked), to meals (omelets, quiches, stratas, frittatas), to desserts (cakes, cheesecakes, custards, cookies, pastries, etc).

Happy National Egg Day!

"The incredible, edible egg!"

Younger readers might not remember that ad slogan, but the theme has been rattling around in my brain since I found out that today is National Egg Day. Treat yourself to a nice Eggs Benedict (which I bet is something you don't eat that often) or maybe visit IowaEgg.org for some great recipes ranging from omelets (I have my eye on this Apple, Cheddar, and Bacon one) to desserts. I used to have Fried Egg Sandwiches once a week when I was a kid. Topped with ketchup! Mmmmmmmmmm. I never put mustard on it like that recipe has, but that actually sounds pretty cool.

And don't forget that we have an egg category too.
