Serving whole eggs in their shells is not something I normally do, and in fact, I don't think I've ever eaten one that way (except peeling hard cooked eggs). Designer Liz Kinmark became obsessed with dip-molding, and eventually designed the Egg Pants. The Egg Pants are a flexible egg cup, which will not shatter. They are currently not available for sale, but if you are interested, there is information on the designer's website.
