Peanut Butter Chocolate Eggs - 5 Easter Candies in 5 Days

Peanut Butter Chocolate EggsIt's easy to be mesmerized by decadent, complex flavors. Sometimes, though, the sweetest surprise is one that basks in simple, nostalgia-inducing basics.

Peanut butter Chocolate Eggs are a staple of the classic Easter basket. Nestled amongst the malted milk balls, cream eggs and bunnies, they are also a mystery: Seemingly innocuous chocolate conceals a treasure of nutty, buttery flavor. Some might take these treats for granted -- especially in their store-bought incarnation -- but we reckon once candy-lovers taste this incredible homemade variety they may not be able to go back to the bag.

I think I heard a peep!

Peep-o-Suction
A couple of jobs ago, I had a co-worker who had a book that featured images of toy chicks, posed in a variety of ways and in a bunch of different scenarios. The Washington Post recently held a contest with a similar result in mind. Create a diorama in a sideways shoebox (or other appropriately sized vessel) in which Peeps are costumed and and posed in ways that tell a story.

They've put the top 22 dioramas into a slide show on their website and they are all fantastic and hysterical. The winner is a scene entitled, "Peeps are a Girl's Best Friend" and features a yellow Peep dressed up a Marilyn Monroe. Others include a scene featuring Batman and Robin and shower scene in which one Peep is peeping at another Peep.

Thanks Roz!

Pimp not only my Cadbury Creme Egg, but my Twix, too!

pimped out cadbury creme eggIf you thought Cadbury Creme Eggs were good enough as they were, and the mini eggs were suitably adorable versions for a kiddie Easter basket, well, then you haven't seen all the hacks making ginormous eggs.

Pimp My Snack took an entire box of regular Cadbury Creme Eggs, cut them open, removed the "yolks," re-molded the chocolate into a giant egg, and created yet another giant Cadbury Creme Egg. Unfortunately, the bidding on eBay for this luscious giant gem has closed.

You think the Cadbury Creme Egg is pimped up? Check out the Mega Twix, about the size of four iPods.

Whopper Original and Milkshake Robin Eggs review

Whoppers are candies with a chocolate coating over a malted milk center. They are almost identical to Maltesers, though fans of one will argue that it is better than the other. Maltesers are made by Mars, while Whoppers are made by Hershey. Around Easter, Whoppers adds a brightly colored candy coating to the balls and calls them Robin Eggs. Personally, I am a huge fan of the candy coating and look forward to picking up a bag of these around Easter. The extra crunch that comes before reaching the chocolate layer and melt-in-your-mouth malted center is great.
