Every month, snap-happy food bloggers pile together their favorite food photos for judging in Does My Blog Look Good in This? For the month of April, Cook & Eat was the blog that hosted the "competition," and last week, with the decision of the judges, Cook & Eat announced the winners from the incredible pool of entrants. There are, as always, three regular categories - originality, edibility, and aesthetics - and this time around, they also chose a couple of photos for Best Use of Color and Best Dish Name. The overall winner for April was a Bag of Chips by Fer Food, pictured above. Head over to Cook & Eat to see the whole gorgeous gallery of photos.
We always try to cover the Does My Blog Look Good in This? photo competition, where food bloggers enter their best food photos from the previous month. This month's round was hosted by Food Beam, a blog that is itself known for lovely photography. The "best in show" photo was of the Blackberry Semifreddo Sandwiches pictured above, from the blog Cook (almost) Anything At Least Once. The semifreddo is an ice cream-like mixture of blackberries, sugar and yogurt, with some whipped cream folded in, that is frozen and generally served by the slice, rather than in scoops. It makes a very elegant, but refreshing, summer dessert if you have a chance to try the recipe.
Be sure to check out all the winners, as there are multiple categories, including Originality, Best Food Styling, Best Lighting and Cutest. Hopefully, you'll be inspired to pick out your best food porn shot to enter in the next round of the competition, which is being hosted by Toast Point.
The wonderful Fanny is hosting the next round of my favourite blogging event - Does My Blog Look Good In This.
Fanny writes at Foodbeam, a lovely blog I recommend you go visit, and has all the details of how to enter in a recent post. She has set up a flickr group to host all the entries (each host is free to deal with the mass of submissions as they see fit; some set up galleries on their blog for example) .
Cakes and desserts are always popular entries in this competition - and several are already displayed. One I particularly like is entry 9 a passion fruit cake, oh and have a look at the creativity behind entry 16, shame the photo is a little blurred. My entry is not a dessert, though but my sausage and peppadew salad picture (shown here). As this round is hosted on flickr you can easily leave comments against each entry.
The July round of every food bloggers favourite food porn competition - Does My Blog Look Good In This - has just closed. This months edition is hosted by Helen on her Grab Your Fork Blog.
Despite the general summer slow down across the internet here are four blog-events to follow or to participate in.
Mixology Monday V takes place at Jiggle the Handle on July 17th. The subject is Lemon - plenty of fun to be had discovering or inventing a cocktail!
Sugar High Friday storms through to the 21st edition and a theme of "Ice Ice Baby" (chilled and frozen desserts).
The 12th edition of Blog Party - Passport Party! traveling...virtually, of course. Think about the places you've been, countries you've visited. Or, a country you're hoping to get to. Create at least one appetizer and drink inspired by your favorite place, or places.
Everyone's favourite food porn competition, Does My Blog Look Good In This, already has several wonderful entries. Send your picture or just view the entries at Grab Your Fork.
The image is my entry for DMBLGIT... what do you think?
Usually, Andrew puts up a post announcing the entries in the monthly food blog photography competition, Does My Blog Look Good in This? I happen to be in charge of this month's event, though, so I get the honors. All of the entries are simply gorgeous. You can view them here, in the official gallery. The judges for the event will pick a winner at the end of the month, but please leave comments on your favorite photos to give the bloggers some feedback and let the judges know who you think should win. Not that they'll be swayed in their judicial responsibilities, of course, but it certainly can't hurt!
If you have your own food blog and would like to participate, read the submission guidelines. There is still plenty of time to enter.
Aussie based Tomatom has just posted the results from the hotly contested Does My Blog Look Good In This photo competition. Ignoring the fact that two winning entries came from the same person (the rules state just one entry per person/blog per month) the standard of entries was really great for this round. Ed has posted a spreadsheet of the results with comments from the two judges - Terry Durack (restaurant reviewer for The Independent on Sunday in London and European editor of Gourmet Traveller) and Jill Dupleix (The Times cook in London).
The winning photo really is excellent, I hope you agree. It was entered by Lucullian Delights. The next round, now accepting entries, is being hosted by Nika's Culinaria.
My favourite food blogging event - Does My Blog Look Good In This - is a monthly food porn photography challenge.
The winners for the 14th round have been announced by the Cooking Diva. The picutre here is the winning image -
great isnt it! It is by Marcela in Argentina.
Just one point separated this image from the second place winner while two points separated the
first place and the third place winner (which was my cheese image; shame I thought for sure I was gonna win - sob).
Winners described here while all
entrants can be viewed here. The
next round is to be hosted by Tomatom in Australia who is having a gastro-fling
around Vietnam at the moment but is sure to announce it soon.
Now this is a real tough one. Who agrees that the standard of the latest round of the
food pron extravaganza Does My Blog Look Good In This has reached a staggering level of quality.
I thought
I was assured a top place with my cheese
snap but then it is up against Johannas' Cinnamon Meringues, Fiordizucca's Matcha tagliatelle with
tomatoes, tofu and soy sauce and the Kitchen Mage's Mud Puffs. And that is just three from the
array of excellent pictures. The results should be announced on Cooking Diva,
for it is the lovely Melissa who is hosting this round, on Monday. It's going to be close.
