Disney Dining Reservations Easier Online

While long lines are the norm at Space Mountain, savvy travelers can skip the lines Walt Disney World restaurants.

A few clicks of the mouse, and you can make Disney dining reservations online to have breakfast with Mickey, Goofy and Donald.

According to Examiner.com, guests can book reservations for Disney World's theme park, resort hotel and Downtown Disney restaurants -- including Princess and character dining locations -- up to 180 days in advance on its dining and reservations Web site.

Guests can begin booking for specific dates at 6 a.m., a few hours before Disney's telephone reservation system opens, giving online bookings for Disney dining reservations a slight edge for popular dates and restaurants.

Disney Hatches Eggs!

Disney is not just in the business of theme parks and animation. They are hopping to the beat of current food trends with their Disney eggs. Yes, they are actually selling eggs imprinted with different Disney characters. The best part? Buy the additional egg mold and make the eggs into little mickey mouse Disney icons.

Of the many current food trends, one of them is to buy local and organic. These eggs are neither. As fellow blog Jezebel asks, "Is this some kind of tie-in to a movie, or further proof of the evils of agribusiness and the coming apocalypse?" You can check out the commercial for these eggs at Jezebel. At first, I thought this was an SNL skit.

I can't help thinking that there is something intrinsically wrong with Disney advertising these eggs as extremely healthful with omega-3 and protein. While this may be correct, these eggs are just another form of big business mass producing industrialized foods with little concern for the environment, namely the food chain. Devoid of any sense of environmental responsibility, Disney is marketing these industrialized eggs to children. It's somewhat strange that they're selling eggs in the first place. But, if they're going to do it, can't they at least be organic? What do you think?

Epcot International Food & Wine Festival

India booth at the Food and Wine Festival

I spent yesterday at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. Over 25 countries were represented at the festival. You "travel around the world" buying small food samples at each country's booth. I had expected typical theme park food. However, the food and wines were above average by any standards - not just theme park standards.

The festival runs though November 9. I have a few strategic tips for those of you who have the opportunity to go:

Start expanding your stomach now to get ready.
Do not get more than one of anything, no matter how large your group is - share everything.
If you must go on rides, do it before you hit the festival. Your stomach will thank you.

My favorite food was at the Cape Town booth. Although, I could make an entire meal out of the maple custard that Canada served.
