Sandwich Day has been over and long past, but I couldn't resist this
gorgeous panini from food blog Cream Puffs in Venice. Usually, I like the idea of paninis, but find that because they are squashed down in a panini press, don't look quite as fabulously photogenic as thick sandwiches that are piled high with ingredients. Perhaps it's the fact that the photo is an extreme close-up, perhaps it's the angle and lighting, but this panini made with pesto, artichokes, prosciutto and Asiago cheese definitely looks voluptuous enough!

It may be still be cool outside now, but the day is inevitably going to quickly heat up in the next few hours. The very thought of going out and working in the summer heat is tiring, but looking at this decadent strawberry ice cream from Cream Puffs in Venice is enough to make me want to work up a sweat and have a reason to cool down. It promises to be sweet, smooth and oh-so refreshing. The ice cream, which is based on a recipe from Luscious Berry Desserts, gets its rich texture from the addition of very thick crème fraîche, and the flavor of the berries is heightened with the addition of a bit of lemon, lemon zest and coconut extract.

Bread pudding is more in the category of "comfort food" than something elegant, but that doesn't stop
this serving of lemon-scented Bread-Pudding French
Toast from looking both stunning and absolutely mouth-watering. Ivonne, the blogger who writes Cream Puffs in Venice prepared this as
part of an relaxing Sunday brunch. It was made even more relaxing by the fact that the custardy casserole is prepared
the night before and simply popped into the oven in the morning. She used fresh lemon zest to give the bread pudding a
light, springy taste - the perfect pick-me-up for a gorgeous April morning. Of course, if you serve it with whipped
cream instead of maple syrup, it can easily become a delightful dessert. Want the recipe? Look no further than her post.

Lentils are not normally considered to be one of the most photogenic foods, but the Red Lentil Soup at
Cream Puffs in Venice is as beautiful as
lentils can get. Lentils, unlike other dried beans or legumes, do not have to be soaked prior to cooking, which means
that they cook up quickly. In fact, Ivonne said that the soup took a mere half an hour to put together and was rich,
comforting and delicious. It is not only a hearty and warming dish, but it is the perfect soup for bringing a little
bit of sunlight in during cold winter weather. If you're interested in making a batch of this yourself, perhaps you
should take a look at the recipe.
