One of my plans for the new year is to bake more. I've never been a huge baker (except for cookies, and making toast - oh, wait, that's not baking). Too much exact measuring, too many bowls, too much mess. But I really like the foods that you get from baking, so I really should start.
These Pumpkin Streusel Muffins from Cooking For 2 sound great. They have that mix of cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and brown sugar that just scream winter comfort food. Full recipe after the jump.
Since I started writing for Slashfood, I've discovered that people seem to just love bacon. Whenver I have a bacon-related post people seem to chime in with words about their love of all things bacon. So I saw this recipe and knew I had to post about it.
I'm ashamed to admit this, but I don't own a crockpot. It's just one of those kitchen items I haven't bought for myself yet, but I'm going to remedy that this winter. I'm starting to realize that many of the recipes that have intrigued me lately start with the phrase, "Put the ingredients in a crockpot..."
Who here eats cranberries or drinks cranberry juice on a regular basis? It's really popular here in New England and one of the basic fruits/juices. Beyond cranberry sauce at holidays dinners I mean. According to Wikipedia, cranberries are a major crop in Massachusetts, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Washington, Oregon, New Jersey, Wisconsin, and parts of Canada.
Mmmm...apples. They remind me so much of fall (even though they're available year-round). It hasn't been very fall-like this week in my neck of the woods - it was almost 90 yesterday! - but any recipe that gets me in the mind-set for autumn is something I have to post about.
