Get your kosher ham shirt!

Kosher ham shirtI have definitely noticed a trend lately with food-based humor t-shirts. Last year, my boyfriend bought me a shirt with a pig, rabbit, and cow that says, "Don't eat us. We are cute animals." Recently, I found out about this kosher ham t-shirt.

This campy shirt was featured in Us Weekly and in Heeb Magazine. If you want one, you can purchase it online.

Food-themed tee-shirts for hungry dressers

powered by tofu teeshirt
Most of the people who know me in real life are quite aware of the fact that I have a very boring wardrobe. Having been a grad student for the last year and a half, I've settled into a comfy pattern of jeans, a black top and Dansko clogs. Just about every day. It stuns people when I whip out a little color or accessorize this uniform with a necklace or scarf.

However, I do believe it's time to start sprucing things up and I'm leaning in the direction of a few of these fun food-themed tee-shirts that the folks over at Yumsugar compiled into a slideshow. They've got shirts from Threadless, Johnny Cupcakes and more (and they've even tracked down a few that are on sale!).

Food fashions go natural

We've seen fast food fashions before, but designer Chris March is doing some thing a little different than the familiar french fry dresses we've come to know. He is making haute couture out of vegetables. With what looks like inspiration from Carmen Miranda, as well as a nudge from Wish-Bone salad dressings, which sponsored the creations, March made hats and dresses out of fresh salad greens. He used lettuce, tomatoes, celery and cabbage, among other produce, to decorate his pieces. A few of the veggies in his creations are artificial, like the green onions, so they will withstand the hot runway lights when they debut in a NY fashion show on June 2.

For good-looking produce, March went to a specialty vegetable market to pick up materials. The only question left to ask is whether any of it is organic.
