Chocolate & Zucchini, the massively popular blog featuring the culinary and literary musings of young Parisian Clotilde Dusoulier, is offering a free foodie desktop calendar at the beginning of each month throughout 2009. The calendar features a seasonal food photo - this month has pretty-enough-to-eat picture of oeuf à la coque (soft-boiled eggs) with goat cheese and artichoke mouillettes on slices of fresh baguette. Newspaper discovers food blogs!
There's an article in The Sacramento Bee that's been syndicated that says that food blogs are becoming popular! Of course, that's something we've known for a long time now, right?
The piece states that there are 48,000 bloggers right now, though doesn't really specify if that means there are 48,000 blogs or 48,000 people blogging (many blogs have several authors). And what is the big revelation in the piece? Readers read food blogs to get recipes, reviews, and ideas! Wow!
I often wonder why blogs are still seen as some alien concept. Some nice coverage for some good blogs though, including Chocolate and Zucchini and Cakegrrl (in the pic).
Our sister site Engadget gets some nice press in the piece, but Slashfood isn't even mentioned. I'm sure that's just a typo.

Chocolate and Zucchini: Daily Adventures in a Parisian Kitchen

In case you have somehow missed the announcements, food blogger Clotilde Dusoulier, the mastermind behind ChocolateAndZucchini.com, has finally released her cookbook entitled Chocolate and Zucchini: Daily Adventures in a Parisian Kitchen.
Clotilde has been blogging about food since September of 2003, and if her website is any indication I'm sure that the book is going to be phenomenal. I don't have a copy yet, but it is guaranteed at least one of us will post a review once we've seen it.
Congratulations, Clotilde! We wish you much success with your book tour!

Chocolate & Zucchini: the book
I'm going to apologize in advance that this post doesn't say anything that regular readers of Chocolate & Zucchini won't already know, but Clotilde just announced that her book, Chocolate & Zucchini: Daily Adventures in a Parisian Kitchen, is available for pre-order from Amazon. Unfortunately, the publication date is slated for May 15th, 2007, so it looks like we'll have to wait several more months until it shows up as a cookbook of the day.
If you don't want to wait that long, don't worry because Clotilde has no intention of discontinuing her three year old blog and there is plenty of material in the archives, including details of the book deal from start to finish. She has been doing more food writing in print these days, as well, and her pieces will pop up in newspapers and other publications between now and them.
You can also amuse yourself by baking up a chocolate and zucchini cake in her honor while we wait.
