Pickle Juice Sport

pikcle juice sport

Hey, if we can have cravings for sour cream and dill flavored chips, why not in a drink?

That's what Brandon Brooks thought back in the year 2000, when he hypothesized that people "sneak" a sip of the juice from a jar of pickles. He confirmed his hypothesis when Eagles players drank pickle juice to stay hydrated in the 120 degree heat at Texas Stadium against the Cowboys. Pickle juice was a sports drink? Apparently.

Now Pickle Juice is official as Pickle Juice Sport, made with natural dill, vinegar and salt. It's not caffeinated (now getting buzzed on pickle juice would just be weird), and thankfully, not carbonated.

Snapple launches white teas

Snapple is launching a line of new white teas, due to hit shelves during the summer. White teas are made with young tea leaves and are high in antioxidants. They are known for their light, delicate flavor, which Snapple has blended with fruit flavors, including apple, nectarine and raspberry. The company plans to market the beverages, which will be sampled in stores nationwide, for its health benefits and all natural ingredients, as well as the facts that white teas are naturally decaffeinated and the drink has 30% fewer calories than other Snapple teas, though it is still sweetened with real sugar, not artificial sweeteners.

Starbucks lauching new bottled drinks

Starbucks is scheduled to launch a few additions to its line of prepackaged drinks. Working in conjunction with PepsiCo, which distributes the Starbucks brand bottled Frappuccinos, the new drinks will include a lower-fat version of the popular Double-Shot espresso drink, a strawberry Frappuccino and an iced coffee beverage. The iced coffee will be a sweet, milky drink sold in 8-ounce cans. The Starbucks bottled Frappuccino sold over 434 million units last year and no doubt Starbucks hopes that this new drink will draw on the popularity of its existing line, filling anticipated consumer demand for a sweet coffee drink that is less rich than the Frappuccino.
