Waiter Claims Firing Over Jane Adams Twitter

A struggling actor is all a-Twitter claiming his celebrity-sighting Tweets cost him his job.

Jon-Barrett Ingels, 31, says he worked at Barney Greengrass, the cafe on the fifth floor of Barneys New York in Beverly Hills, Calif., and documented his celebrity encounters under the Twitter username, PapaBarrett. Ingels had dished about his on-the-job celeb encounters to his followers, with comments like "Thurs: Tori Spelling eats salami eggs and onions. BTW when did Tori become hot? Also Emilio Estevez looks like his dad," or, "Watched Neil Strauss (The Game) pick up girls and Mindy Kaling talking at a hungover BJ Novak (The Office). My work is not reality!"

But he tells Slashfood that his Twitter of an encounter with actress Jane Adams put an end to that job.

A 54¢ egg cream... at Barney's

It doesn't seem like you can get a whole lot for 54¢, but at Barney Greengrass, on the 5th floor of Barney's in Beverly Hills, you can get a taste of nostalgia. They serve up egg creams at the shockingly low price - making them the best buy in they whole store. According to LA Ritz, who found the drink while waiting for some friends to finish shopping, they did use Hershey's syrup instead of U-Bet (the horror!), but it still could be the starting place for a new trend. Of course, if it catches on, I doubt that the price will remain so low!

Department store cafes are not bad

nordtrom cafe, tomato basil soup

As the weekend approaches, many of us are making plans to go shopping. If you're headed to the mall, that means you might be stuck eating lunch in *gasp!* the mall food court. Will it be a hot dog from a red, blue, and yellow striped pogo-jumper, or a burger from the clown?

You do have an option that' s better than a billion calorie cinnamon roll for lunch - department store cafes and restaurants. I just went shopping, and on the top floor of most Nordstrom stores, there is a small cafe. The service is cafeteria-style, so don't expect ooh-la-la ladies-who-lunch kind of service, but the food choices are much better than the mall's food court. I had a bowl of creamy tomato soup that was garnished with fresh basil, and my shopping companions ordered a mixed berry salad that had surprisingly fresh, plump berries and a steak panini. Of course, Nordstrom's cafe also gives you these chocolate-covered mint sticks that I love.  .

Not all department stores have cafes. In LA, most of the Nordstrom stores do and Barney's of New York in Beverly Hills has Barney Greengrass, which is actually great for brunch on the weekends (and they have matzo ball soup!!!).
