When I first pulled this picture up on my computer screen last night, my boyfriend looked at it, his eyes nearly popping out of his head and said, "Whoa!" For a cake fiend like him, this picture is dangerously tempting, and later in the evening, he asked in plaintive tones, "Why won't you make a cake like that for me?"

This chocolate layer cake with cream cheese frostings (in its finished form, the top is frosted with a chocolate-hued frosting) comes to us from Jennifer of Bake or Break. Her husband Quinn did the actual baking work here, prepping this gorgeous sucker for her birthday. Great job Quinn and happy birthday Jennifer!

Jennifer decided that the very best way to celebrate Bake or Break's second birthday was to share her very favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe with her readers. She baked up a batch (these puppies have two kinds of chocolate and homemade oat flour in them) and took some seriously drool-worthy pictures of them. This particular one makes me want to leap through my computer screen in order to show down.

Feast Your Eyes: Cashews for butterscotch bars

Of all the nuts out there, cashews are my very favorite (almonds and pecans do battle for the number two spot). This photo of a mound of cashews, waiting to become part of a Butterscotch Cashew Bar, caught my eye and sent me straight to the kitchen for a handful of cashews. Thanks to Jennifer for adding her picture to our Flickr pool.

Food Porn Daily: Outrageous chocolate cookies

I have been on the South Beach diet for the last ten days (thankfully, I'm coming to the end of phase one). It's been great for my waistline but not nearly so good for my sweet tooth or my baking mojo (both of which I've had to put on extended hiatus). I've done pretty well, sticking to the program, eating sugar free gelatin to satiate my cravings for dessert (to only limited satisfaction). However, around 3 pm yesterday, I suddenly was smacked with the most intense craving for a cookie. It really didn't matter what kind, at that moment I would have happily scarfed down any cookie waved in my direction.

I stayed tough and resisted the call of the cookie, but as I went off in search of a picture to feature today, I kept finding myself attracted to images of cookies. So, I bring you a decadent mound of Outrageous Chocolate Cookies from Flickr user/blogger Jennifer (of Bake or Break fame). You can find the recipe for these cookies here. I will just sit here and gaze as the image longingly, for once grateful that I can't actually reach through the screen and chow down.

Today's image comes from one of the best purveyors of pornographic food images out there, Jennifer at Bake or Break. Her pictures are always so crisp and delicious that I desperately wish to be able to reach into them in order to taste her creations. This picture of a bitten Dark Chocolate Chunk and Dried Cherry Oatmeal cookie looks so good, I think I've got to give this recipe a try.
