How to make a good, easy chai latte

Christopher Masto, the man behind the occasional video series, "Does it Go With Tea," (which we featured back in February) offers a quick tutorial on how to make a chai latte at home. While it's not a traditional method for chai, it does offer a good way to whip up a Starbucks-esque beverage in the comfort of your own kitchen (useful knowledge in these days of rising prices).

I think the best takeaway tip from this video is that recommendation to froth the milk prior to heating. I have the very same immersion milk frother, and I always heat the milk before trying to froth it, mistakenly thinking that I would lose all my froth in the microwave. It's nice to now know a better way to do it.

One of my favorite things about the internet is that it enables people to indulge their creative impulses in ways that would have been difficult or impossible just a couple of decades ago. Take, for instances, this short little internet show that Christopher Masto puts together on a semi-regular basis called, "Does it Go With Tea?" In it, he sits down with a variety of sweet pastries, takes a bite and then sips from a mug of tea in order to determine whether the baked good he just sampled goes with the tea. The episode you see above is the third one he produced, and in it, he tastes a Boston Creme cupcake in order to test it's tea worthiness. In episode four, he tries a buttered blueberry muffin with tea, but you'll just have to watch to find out how that one turns out.

Have you ever looked at a meal you've made and thought, "I really wish I could make a video of this and put it in a place where other people could see it." Well, maybe you haven't had that particular thought, but possibly you've had ones along those lines. The video sharing site Viddler has created running series called MealToday, where they invite people to take video of their meals and share it with the Viddler community. It's actually sort of fun, if slightly voyeuristic, to see the things that other people eat.

The other cool thing about the MealToday project is that for every video you submit of the things you've eaten and drunk, you will be entered into their contest* to win either an iPhone or a Canon TX1 HD Camcorder. Not a bad deal. So go forth and record your meals! Fame and fortune could follow.

*In the interest of full disclosure, I should say that I know some of the folks at Viddler and will be participating in the podcast on September 1st during which the winner will be chosen. But it's still a pretty cool project and contest.
