1893 Veuve Cliquot unearthed in a British castle

Telegraph.co.uk reports that the world's oldest bottle of Veuve Cliquot Champagne was found in a sideboard at Torosay Castle on the Isle of Mull. Chris James, the current owner, long curious as to the contents of a locked sliding door in the dining room engaged the services of a locksmith. He was rewarded with a perfectly preserved 1893 bottle, complete with trademark yellow label. The bubbly, now considered priceless, is on display in Veuve Cliquot's visitors' center in Reims, France.

In other news, I was really excited to find a half-full bottle of Tito's vodka I'd forgotten about in my freezer last week. But then again, I don't own a damn castle.

Veuve Cliquot's Tw'ice Bucket

Need a novel way to keep your Clicquot cold? Veuve Clicquot's Tw'ice Bucket can clip on to the side of your table, or, by rotating half of the bucket ("a playful somersault," they say), it can stand on its own. The Clicquot website sells them for $100. Slightly less elegant and way cheaper is the Clicquot Ice Jacket, basically a little wetsuit for your champagne bottle. It's only $10. Hell, they even sell Clicquot-yellow ties and cuff links to match. The folks over at Cool Hunting found the Tw'ice Bucket for sale at Malmaison for only £39. Malmaison sells Veuve Clicquot wellies so you can "traipse around your estate." The Clicquot people seem to be in some sort of marketing frenzy.
