Peanut Butter Brownies - Feast Your Eyes

peanut butter cup brownies
Is there anything better than a good chocolate and peanut butter combination? I think it's absolute brilliance on Melissa's part to bake chopped peanut butter cups right into the brownie batter. I imagine it would work far better than adding straight peanut butter to the mix, as that would melt in and disappear. This way, you get nice chunks of peanut butter in with the chocolate.

The recipe isn't up on The Boastful Baker yet, but make sure to check in there over the next couple of days, as it should be posted soon.

Thanks Melissa, for adding your image to the pool!

Rustic Mixed Berry Tart - Feast Your Eyes

rustic mixed berry tart
This gorgeous, rustic tart comes to us from Melissa of The Boastful Baker. She has sort of overdosed on the mixed berry tart making of late, making this one (although from the pictures on her site, at least one of the tarts she made was done in a more elegant, removable bottom tart pan) four times in November. At least that proves that it's a dependable recipe!

Thanks Melissa!

Feast Your Eyes: Fresh rosemary

bunch of fresh rosemary
Over the weekend, I drove out to Lancaster County with a friend who grew up in the area. We went to an amazing discount drug store, multiple grocery stores to search for canning jars (they are really hard to find in the big city) and and raided her mother's herb garden. I packed a gallon size bag with oregano, thyme, parsley, lemon verbena, sage and a big bunch of rosemary, much like what you see in the picture above. I used some in a pot of soup I made last night, and the rest I'll hand in my kitchen and dry for later use.

Thanks to Melissa, the Boastful Baker, for adding this one to the Slashfood Flickr pool.

Feast Your Eyes: Fresh blueberries

a bowl of fresh blueberries
It is blueberry season and those almost-purple, chocked with antioxident little berries are all over the markets. I've been out to pick them twice now and I'm planning to go at least one more time before the season is out. Melissa (aka The Boastful Baker) recently went picking and came back with 13 pounds (I have to admit that I only picked six pounds last time I went out to the u-pick farm).

Thanks for adding your pic to the Slashfood Flickr pool, Melissa!

Food Porn Daily: Raspberry Waffles

a raspberry waffle

When I was growing up, once every eight weeks or so, my dad would surrender to our cajoling, drag out the waffle iron, and create some of the best waffles. Even the waffles I now make for myself (still on a every-other-month schedule) just don't compare. However, I think that I've discovered a waffle that might just best my dad's fare, as these waffles look crisp, have good, deep wells (all the better to hold your maple syrup) and also contain raspberries. Be still my heart.

This image comes to us from Meliass and she's got the recipe up on her blog, The Boastful Baker (her recipe also comes from her dad. Are waffles a father thing?).
