Brewer launches vitamin beer

beer from wkmgWKMG, a central Florida television station, reports that a Dallas-based brewer has created a vitamin-enhanced beer. Larry Schwartz, the brewer behind Stampede Beer Co., says his brew has all the things a drinker expects of a good beer plus vitamin B and other essential vitamins. But the federal government has told Schwartz he can't list vitamins on his beer labels because that would imply that his beer was good for you.

It looks like Stampede's not the only brewer that can't make any claims about health benefits on its labels. A quick Internet search reveals that normal beer is filled with vitamins A, B, D and E. Moreover some claim that one liter of the beverage that has been known for hundreds of years as liquid bread contains 65% of the daily requirement of niacin. Here's to Stampede being as tasty as it is healthful.
