Are you ready for Skittles vodka?

And you thought Skittles were just for eating. Turns out the candies are perfect for coloring/flavoring vodka.
According to EnglishRussia.com this is a fun new tend. Just separate the skittles by color, add to vodka, let the alcohol absorb the color, and drain. Voilá, rainbow colored vodka! Enjoy in moderation and only if you're at the legal drinking age.
This trend seems like it would lend itself well to summer cocktails. What do you think?

New Product: Chocolate Mix Skittles

How is it that I've never heard of these new Chocolate Mix Skittles until this very moment, when I popped them out of a vending machine? The bag features s'mores, vanilla, chocolate caramel, chocolate pudding and brownie batter Skittles, in various shades of cream and brown. This is the kind of stuff that gets sugar freaks like me all excited.
The vanilla and brownie batter flavors taste a bit off to me (and since when is vanilla a chocolate flavor?), but the s'mores, chocolate caramel and chocolate pudding are tasty. Similar to Jelly Belly jelly beans of the same flavors, but with a Skittle's crunchy outer coating.
Candy Addict gives a good rundown of the flavors. They describe the brownie batter as "someone took fake, store-bought chemical-y brownie mix and blended in a tablespoon of cold butter."
Now if Mars would just bring licorice Skittles to America (they have them in Italy, in a black bag, with flavors like aniseed and licorice mint), I'd be thrilled. If anyone knows somewhere in the US or online that carries these, I'd be grateful for the info.

Creepy ads must sell more candy
We already know that creepy ads must sell more burgers, but can they sell candy, too? Skittles newest ad features a man with what appears to be a magical beard. The several foot long beard moves of its own accord, picking up Skittles and popping them into the mouth of the hirsute beard-owner. As disturbing as that image is, the worst it yet to come. The whole scene takes place during a job interview and when the man doesn't get the job, his beard feeds the woman interviewing him a Skittle and then strokes her face. The image of a mangy, hairy mass feeding Skittles to a woman is, quite unfortunately, now imprinted onto my brain. Good job, Skittles. This ad beats out the creepy king ad.
The entire video of the commercial is after the jump.

Skittlebrau, for real
Simpsons aficionados may remember mention of a skittle-laced beer called Skittlebrau (If you don't, consult the Simpsons Food Archive). Well, I recently came across
someone who took it a bit too far: The Glossy News concocted roughly a dozen
different skittle-infused beers and spirits.
Why? Why not I guess. Some of the combinations are easy to believe--Skittles and Bacardi Silver, for example, should be
nothing new to the sorority crowd, although I'm surprised they didn't serve it with a straw. Others, like Skittles and
Old Milwaukee ("Old Skilwaukee"), I'd rather not have thought about. If you look closely, you can still see
the Skittle bits glowing at the bottom of the mug.
