When I think of Pace products, I think of those commercials from the eighties and nineties, in which a bunch of cowboys are sitting around after a long, hard day of working the trails. Suddenly, it becomes clear that they're out of Pace Picante Sauce and that the only alternative salsa is a bottle of swill made in, of all place, New York City (New York City!). Suddenly the life expectancy of "Cookie" looks a whole lot shorter.
I imagine there are many of you out there who have similar associations. Thing is, I recently discovered that Pace has come a long way since these iconic commercials. They've been hard at work over the last decade, creating a line of salsas and dips that is varied and appeals to a multitude of palates. Last week, I had the opportunity to taste two of their newest varieties - Black Bean and Roasted Corn Salsa and the Pineapple Mango Chipotle Salsa. I loved the nutty flavor that the roasted corn lent to that flavor and the pineapple mango one was sweet, tart and tangy (it goes down real easy with corn chips).
As you think about your Super Bowl menu for this Sunday, consider picking up one of these new flavors in addition to the traditional dips and salsas you always put out. They're both awfully tasty!
