Fast-food restaurants have done some pretty crazy things to get attention drawn to their new products, but I think KFC has taken this to a whole new level by asking for Papal blessing for their new sandwich, the KFC Fish Snacker. Apparently the company contacted the Vatican requesting the blessing to reinforce the notion that American Catholics could enjoy this sandwich throughout Lent - a 40-day period where many people chose not to eat meat, especially on Fridays. The sandwich itself is 100% Alaskan pollack served with tartar sauce on a bun, the latest addition to their $0.99 'Snacker' sandwich line-up. Other snackers include Buffalo - double-breaded chicken dipped in hot sauce, Ultimate Cheese - double-breaded chicken topped with cheddar and Swiss cheese sauce, and HBBQ - chicken smothered in hickory-flavored honey BBQ sauce.
No word yet on what the Pope has said in regards to the blessing, though personally I wouldn't hold my breath.
