A meat bundt enrobed in prosciutto

meat bundt loaf
I've seen meatloaf baked in bread pans and meatloaf baked in free form shapes (mock lobster, anyone?). But I've never seen anyone think to bake up a meatloaf in a tube pan until I was scanning through my RSS reader last night. But if anyone was going to think of a bundt meatloaf, I'm not surprised that it came from the minds of the chefs/bloggers behind the site Ideas in Food. They are always thinking creatively about food and manage to produce a number of interesting (and I'm sure tasty) dishes. I think that this is what I'd like to eat for dinner tonight.

Food Porn: Smoked Cinnamon Raisin Bread

Cinnamon raisin bread is made for toasting, as I learned early in life. White bread does make a fine piece of toast, but the aroma released by the cinnamon as each slices toasts is heavenly and there is no need to point out that it is also a perfect vehicle for butter. Much like Ideas in Food, I like to top mine with a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar, too. This Smoked Cinnamon Raisin Bread is unique, however, because it uses smoked butter in the dough and has its juicy raisins soaked in rum. Both additional flavors lend a richness and depth to the bread that would not otherwise be there. Raisin toast may be a childhood pleasure, but this is a decidedly adult version.

Smoked butter can be bought here, but you can always fall back to regular butter if smoked is unavailable to you.

Food Porn: Long Burgers

Every once in a while, I come across burgers that are served on hot dog buns. This presentation never looked appetizing to me, largely because the meat is always shaped into a "burger dog" and a roll of hamburger meat just doesn't look too tasty.  Reading the post about The Long Burger at Ideas in Food proved to me that burgers can be served on hot dog buns and still look delicious, perhaps even better than ordinary burgers. The trick is to make the burgers flat and long before grilling them, like a super-long slider. Once the burger is on the bun, you can load it up with toppings without the burger getting too tall to bite into.
