Food blog awards announced

Food Blog Awards 2007 imageThe Well Fed Network announced the nominations for the 2007 Food Blog Awards yesterday and we here at Slashfood were happy to discover that we have been nominated in the Best Group Food blog category. The other nominees in our category are all regular reads of mine (Cook Think, the Ethicurean, Ideas in Food and Serious Eats) so I know just how stiff our competition is. You can vote for us (or any one of these nominated group blogs) here. Make sure to check out the rest of the categories, as it's a terrific way to discover a new food blog or two.

2006 Food Blog Awards announced

The Well Fed Network, which was started by the Accidental Hedonist, took over the hosting duties of the Food Blog Awards last year and has just announced a call for nominations for the 2006 awards. The awards were started as a way to recognize excellence in what was once a very tiny niche of the blogging world. In the past few years, the category has expanded immensely and the awards are a bigger deal than ever before. Nominating your favorite blogs/bloggers is a great way to let them know you appreciate their hard work and checking out the lists of nominees will introduce you to some great new sites. Nominations will close on Friday, December 15th by Midnight EST. The categories include Best Writing, Most humorous, Best Photography, Best Restaurant Reviews, Best New Food Blog, Best Original Recipes, Best Recipes, Best Blog by a Chef and Best Overall, among others.

By the way, we would love to send a big "thank you" out to the person who nominated Slashfood in the Best Group Blog category!

food blogging awardsIf you've been living under an overturned measuring cup in your kitchen, then you might not have known about the Golden Globe Awards on Monday.

Don't worry, because you can still get your awards-fix in the 2005 Food Blogging Awards, hosted by The Accidental Hedonist. Nominations were open to everyone last month, then narrowed down by five well-known food blogger judges to five finalist blogs in each category. Voting is open now to everyone, but today is the last day to vote!

The categories range from typical blogging categories like Writing, Photography, and Humor, to categories that are more specific to food blogs like Recipes, Restaurant Reviews, and Food Industry.

You don't have to vote, but then don't blame us if you don't love the results!

Vote here.
