Food Oddities: An big-mouthed artist with a penchant for blondes

Jason Kronenwald likes words that begin with the letter "b" - specifically, blondes and bubble gum. Combine your two passions, and what do you get?

Of course! Portraits of iconic blonde women made entirely out of chewed bubble gum. (Why...what were you thinking? Weirdo.) Kroenwald has minions of gum-chewers at his disposal, but says he prefers Trident when it comes to personal chewing. He claims that there are no paints or dyes used, and that "the mixing of color takes place in the mouth during chewing." Hmm...so kinda like Willy Wonka, then?

Here are a bunch, from Marilyn to Britney.

Creative or cheap? You decide.

Britney Spears loves Cool Ranch Doritos

Cool Ranch DoritosAnd that headline is your first answer in this quiz over at AOL Food (via The Smoking Gun). Match the contract demand with the singer that makes the demand on their contract.

All the same names seem to pop up: Britney, Christina, Mariah, Celine, Madonna, and Paula Abdul. I didn't realize that Abdul even toured anymore, but she actually seems to have some reasonable demands when it comes to dressing room food. One diva demands NO TOMATO, APPLE, OR GRAPE JUICES. And another wants only Diet Coke - IN CANS!

For the record, I only got 3 out of 10. I guess I don't know my divas.

Britney and K-Fed's half-eaten food for sale on eBay

An enterprising Seattle waiter with a Foodsaver snatched up leftovers from Britney Spears and Kevin Federline and has put them up for auction on eBay.

Hard as it is to believe, as of this writing there have been only 40 bids. The top one thus far exceeds $200. I myself may purchase these items, before some evil scientist grabs them and clones the celebrity couple.

The seller claims to have acquired Britney's half eaten egg salad sandwich and K-Fed's corn dog at a music industry party he worked a few months ago. I wouldn't plan on eating these items though, the seller notes they're strictly for memorabilia purposes not consumption.

Update: The winning bid was for $520 from Golden Palace Casino, the same guys that bought the Virgin Mary grilled cheese sandwich and other weird food things.

Britney Spears feeds ice cream to her 8-month old son

britney spearsOops, she did it again.

Britney Spears has made it into the news with her parenting, this time for feeding ice cream to her 8-month old son. Britney claims that she feeds Sean Preston the ice cream because "He loves ice cream - it makes him sleep better."

British dietitian Sarah Gosnay says that too much sugar in the snack before bedtime will keep a child awake rather than help him to fall asleep. Not only is the ice cream not so good for his body when he eats it because it is high in saturated fat and sugar, but it sets an unhealthy pattern for later in life.

It shouldn't take a dietitian to point this out. Isn't that just common sense in parenting? Which of course, Britney doesn't seem to have.

Tip of the Day

Drying fruit is easy, mostly hands-off and yields a sweet and healthy snack.
