  • What's Up with the High Price of Bacon? (Slashfood)

Aug 4th 2010 9:17PM It's funny Joe mentioned the excessive fat content of the uncut piece of meat; it made me think of my childhood when my dad used to raise pigs on a strict three grain diet-with no kitchen scraps at all. The meat was the inverse of what you typically find in the store, namely; solid lean meat with a narrow 1/8th inch strip of fat on the outside. It was much better tasting than store-bought meat! The sausage was equally divine!

  • Upfronts News Roundup: Bubble Show Updates (AOL TV)

May 18th 2010 12:22AM Half the shows my wife and I watch are being canceled. I especially livid about the loss of Heroes. I was finally starting to cohere into a stand-off of good vs. evil. It would've been exciting, I believe. I'm also a religious watcher of Flash-forward, so that sucks as well. My wife threatened to return our dish and cancel cable if they cancel any more of our shows! LOL! I'll go back to reading a good book before bedtime.

  • Forget Popcorn; Executive Demands Healthy Treats at Movie Theaters (PopEater)

Mar 20th 2010 2:09PM My family very seldom attend more than 4 movies a year in a theatre, opting instead to go to the drive-in and pack our own food, so we enjoy a large tub of buttered popcorn when we do go. I could see how a more frequent movie goer might need to have healthier options to choose from, but once every few months has no impact on our waistlines what-so-ever! I vote to have BOTH good and bad items available upon request!

  • Slashfood Ate (8): Worst foods you can eat (Slashfood)

Jan 22nd 2006 5:54AM I am 240 lbs. and I am the lightest member of my family and relatives! Why? I'm not sure. It's a combination of things. I was in Europe back in 99'and two things struck me as peculiar;(1)nearly everyone was as thin as a rail(2)fast food restaurants were either non-existant, or few and far between. I only spotted two fast food places in the entire city of Vienna. One McDonalds and one Burger King. Another culprit is our entertainment accessibility. We were thinner when we only had four channels of TV and video games were restricted to the archade. We work harder now-for less money. As a consequence, we find it difficult to squeeze in an hour work-out. Lastly, our portion sizes are ridiculous and irresponsible.
