  • Know Where to Eat at the Airport (Slashfood)

Dec 26th 2008 8:07AM No love for Yelp.com? Over there you can also find airport food reviews - like the French Meadow Bakery and Cafe in Minneapolis:

  • Jerry Greenfield of Ben & Jerry's: A traitor speaks out (Slashfood)

Aug 10th 2008 12:44PM Ben & Jerry aren't traitors. They created a successful business and then cashed in on that success. They don't owe you anything, you should be grateful for the deliciousness they provided you, not bitter and unappreciative. It sounds like it's your view that Ben and Jerry should never be allowed to retire just in case someone could screw up the ice cream?

  • Health mag rates healthiest restaurants (Slashfood)

Apr 27th 2008 8:50PM I find the choices a bit weird, especially since some of the choices don't even have nutritionals on the website. So how did they determine that any of the supposedly healthy options at Bob Evan's are actually healthy? I'm always on the lookout for lower carb options for my husband, who is diabetic. We regularly hit up Ruby Tuesday's because we can lookup the info for anything on the menu and they work with special requests.

  • Buckwheat honey and u-pick apples (Slashfood)

Oct 29th 2007 10:56PM I love Linvilla! My sister would hang out there all the time. We liked to get their pepper and sausage bread. Our mother would always pick up a pie from there because they were delicious. Orchards are my favorite places..

  • Disney kids' Champagne is a dumb idea (Slashfood)

Mar 27th 2007 8:25AM In my family we've always had sparkling cider for the kids so they could have a special occasion drink too.

  • New York wants to count your calories for you (Slashfood)

Dec 15th 2006 8:04AM That's not fair at all.. chain restaurants already have the information available but all the others don't. Wouldn't it make more sense to make all the others have the information available? Not penalize the restaurants that are already providing it and shunting customers to choices that are likely even less healthy!

  • All-in-one coffee makers brew up good results (Slashfood)

Nov 21st 2006 8:21AM I used to have a Cuisinart Grind n Brew and I wouldn't go back. The cleaning process took too long. There are 5 parts you have to clean between each usage instead of the usual 2. The thing randomly overflowed if you made more than 8 cups. The back side of the water tank cracked and leaked all over the counter eventually. The thermal carafe pours slowly and it is a heavy carafe, which is very frustrating when you go to pour that cup in the morning. It also doesn't have adjustable grind consistency so you use a lot more coffee than you need (almost twice as much) due to a coarse grind.

We went back to a non grinding machine and prefer the simplicity but I'd be willing to try another combo machine. A friend has the capresso and loves it. It's different in that you don't need to clean the grinder between uses, it automatically dispenses the correct amount for you, and is situated on the side of the machine so that the steam from the brewing process doesn't infiltrate the grinding mechanism. I have heard good things about the Melitta one as well.

My guess is whatever your flavor is, Bunn would probably be a good bet. They are in practically every diner and would outlast anything else.

We roast our own coffee, so are pretty picky about our coffee makers! Coffeegeek.com has reviews for more info.
