Cursive Handwriting Getting Erased as Schools Teach Typing Over Script (ParentDish)
Jan 24th 2011 8:46PM I see a possible career opportunity for future entrepreneurs translating cursive, such as specialists do with hieroglyphics. Could be very lucrative, as we are gradually losing the English language to Spanish, ebonics and texting.

Chiquita Unveils Winning Sticker Designs (Slashfood)
Oct 1st 2010 9:39AM I also dislike them all, especially #8. The zipper is the most clever, but I guess not in the top 10. Do or die, I would pick the least annoying #10. None of them are good emblems for a major company. I would never look at any of them and think Chiquita and most of them don't even make me think Banana! Who judges these things?

Breaking Point (MyDaily)
Sep 21st 2010 7:52PM I don't think there is a real long line of people just waiting to be school bus drivers. I've never heard anyone say, "I want to grow up and be a school bus driver for incredibly spoiled, rude, obnoxious, uncouth, ornery, immature, disobedient and disrespectful school children. Nobody could just like children enough to be abused by the kids and then their rotten parents. The school bus drivers available now are not miracle workers, nor were they ever. People are not going to put their children on a school bus and minutes later those kids step off that bus miraculously cured from all disgusting and learned habits. Parents obviously endorse whatever their child's behavior is, while the kids are at home, but then once the kids are out the home door, somehow they become everybody else's responsibility: the school bus driver's, the teacher's, the principal's, the administration's, the policeman's, the coach's, the chaperone's, the minister's, the doctor's, the baby sitter's, the waiter's, the mailman's and on & on. Does the sight of a school bus put parents into a vacation trance until their kid is caught doing something irresponsible and then they turn back on, so they can point fingers and find fault with everyone else? I have two children and I've always said that the worst thing ever would be if somebody did not like my kids. Parenting was hard, but to start with, I told my kids that they didn't have to like me or even love me, but they would respect me and their father. In that way they would earn self-respect and respect from others. They probably would never earn fame from having their names in the newspaper crime reports, never have their picture hung in the post office, never have a photo of themselves holding a number or a warrant for their arrest. My children were always my responsibility: nobody else's, only mine and their dad's. We did not pass the buck or shirk our duties. We never expected anyone else to be held accountable for our children's actions and our children knew that they in turn would be held accountable. Our children were only ours. We provided an environment that would not tolerate mean-heartedness or bullies. We would not have dared to blame the school bus driver for anything except safely driving the bus!

Breaking Point (MyDaily)
Sep 21st 2010 7:08PM Just asking, but honestly what can school bus drivers do to keep order; make threats like this father? Kids don't listen, but they will tell everything they know that somebody, besides themselves, has done. If the bus stops again and again and again so the driver can take care of further disturbances, who then is driving the bus? By chance if order is restored and the bus driver proceeds to drive, hasn't this quickly made everyone late for school? If a parent reports bullying to the school administration and nothing is done, how will the bus driver reporting it make any difference? What does anyone expect the administration to do? Call the same parents that don't believe their children would bully and want to sue because their child has been slandered? When the police are called and the children bullying are turned over to their parents, they may be sent home on suspension. "Oh Happy Day!" The kid didn't want to be in school anyway. A reader asks, "where do children that age get condoms?" That's a no-brainer. Big brother, parents night stand drawer, a friend and in Massachusetts, there are communities that distribute "Kiddie Condoms" to even first graders. Children that young, are having sex and contracting diseases. How long is this little girl required to ride to school being tortured and decorated with said, condoms, before something is done? I think she was brave to speak up at all; many kids just grin and bear the best they can. Sept 14, 2010, in Indiana, a 15 year old young man hung himself in the family's barn, after repeatedly being bullied and told he shouldn't be alive and to go home and kill himself. Seems like, along with being required to bring kleenex, paper towels, school supplies and hand cleaner to school, every parent should be required to monitor the school bus for a time, each year. If you have a child, then it is mandatory that you take care of the child. It's not an option. Bullies should be required to have their parents escort them during school hours; no suspensions! That parent can bring and take their own child to and from home with them, in the family car. I understand part of learning is independence from home, however there are those who lack the maturity to be without supervision and need their parents around longer than other students. The parent and bully could possibly escort children that may need an extra hand with a wheel chair, books, lunch, etc. The bully could also spend time in a wheel chair, on crutches, etc. to possibly develop some empathy for others, but always with the parent right there beside them. "I have to work" or "I don't have a ride" will not be escape outlets. Finally, I think communities need Courts of Common Sense, for situations like this. There is no way, this man should be punished for protecting his daughter. The cursing was not anything more than you hear on TV, Videos, Games, CD's, on the streets or the computer with their friends and also at home. Saying, "I'm going to kill you," is a statement kids use themselves everyday, to each other. It's a very common expression and they laugh about it. I bet, there was not one kid on the bus that believed that they were "really" going to be killed. As a matter of fact, the kids more than likely laughed at the father and sarcastically said,
" w-o-o-o-o-o-o-o, we're scared and then laughed somemore! -
Is Angelina Jolie Turning Shiloh Into a Boy? Parenting Experts Weigh In (ParentDish)
Mar 4th 2010 8:51AM If parenting is in question because of how a parent let their children dress at 3, then whoever dressed Paris Hilton, Lady GaGa, Amy Winehouse, etc should never have been allowed to have children. Talk about an identity crisis! They look bad all the time. Check out Demi Moore when she was a child. I'm pretty confident she knows she's a woman.
