Blogher food and meeting a few food bloggers (Slashfood)
Jul 29th 2006 4:19PM First off, Nicole, lovely to meet you two. Secondly, as I just barely choked down 1/2 a veggie burger for lunch here at BlogHer, I have to agree about the food. Fairly disappointing, even for a hotel conference. Shoulda brought a stash of snacks!

Top Chef Episode 9 recap (Slashfood)
May 5th 2006 3:38PM Thank you, thank you for the recaps! I saw the first six episodes while on a JetBlue flight to NYC and got completely hooked, but don't have a TV at home so I've been wondering what happened. Sad to hear LeeAnne got canned, but happy that Harold's still there...

Rachael Ray named one of Time's 100 Most Influential People (Slashfood)
May 1st 2006 3:45PM Though cutesy and giggly anything can get on my nerves, I can't argue with someone who gets Americans into the kitchen, less scared of cooking and away from only pre-packaged foods. As much as I love Mario Batali, his cookbooks don't help you whip up dinner on a Wednesday night after a long day of work, and many ingredients can't be found in your neighborhood grocery. I like that she encourages people to feel free not to measure everything and realize that they can eat better on a more regular basis.

Real kitchens: introducing an occasional series (Slashfood)
Jan 7th 2006 9:15PM Hi there,
Great idea--ideas from other real people, particularly apartment dwellers, would be helpful. I would love to participate in your real kitchens series--having spent serious time figuring out how to adapt my (rented) apartment kitchen with limited counterspace into both a useful and pleasant space (I'm still not quite there, but closer all the time :). I'm based in Los Angeles.
Thanks, Erin -
Slashfood Ate (8): Worst things at Trader Joe's (Slashfood)
Dec 14th 2005 2:33PM I too am a Trader Joe's lover. No, I don't like the produce, but for nearly everything else it's fantastic. The nuts/dried fruit--so good and cheap (the dried mango in particular). Juices--many all-fruit ones at much cheaper prices. The yogurt is great, the frozen salmon, the turkey meatballs, and their "breakfast bars"--this blueberry/appple/fig walks into a bar...these are so fruity and good, without high fructose corn syrup, mucho, mucho better and cheaper than the original nutrigrain bars. Long live TJs.

Tater Tot casserole, the things we eat for love (Slashfood)
Nov 21st 2005 3:11PM And I thought I was the only one with a significant other in love with tater tot casserole!! He too is under orders to make it only when I'm out of town. I think it's what sustained him thru his college years.
