I can and have eaten a lot of things in my life, but that one ranks right up there with soy cheese as something I cannot abide. Only 3 things in my food list that I wont eat: Quinoa, soy cheese and persimmons.

  Jul 30th 2009 9:10AM I found this show to be unbelievably offensive and disturbing. There is no need to plaster a womans height and weight on the screen...or his for that matter. The entire premise of the 'promise ring' was and is patronizing and disgusting.
  
  As to their attire, I'd bet money if you asked the producers at FOX, one the requirements for the first show was that they wear a low cut dress with no sleeves. You know, go out and find the most hoochy dress you can. I didnt see sleeve one on ANY of the girls, and save 2, I think they all had on dresses where the fronts went down to their pupiks. You cant tell me they ALL willingly chose virtually the same style of dress. I wonder what the girls would have worn given free choice?
  
  What I saw was the girls were mostly not very accepting of themselves, and had their lives on hold until they got thin. What a mistake and waste of a life! These poor girls need to get some self esteem, some confidence, find joy in their lives right where they are right now with just themselves, and stop believing that they are not complete without a man. Its not so.
  
  I'm in my 50's, recently widowed. Been married 3 times. Been a big girl most of my life. Think Carnie Wilson pre-surgery. I have NEVER, EVER, lacked for male companionship, dates or husbands. Quality men, not losers. I can also say my 2 exes got spoiled to big women, because after we were done, both of them went after big women, when they were not like that before. Even though I have been a serial monogamist, it was my choice, I didnt just jump at the first guy thinking "Oh, thank goodness, A MAN!! Someone actually picked me!!". Nope.
  
  I dont plan to watch it again, and I wish the producers of these so called reality shows would just quit...large folks or not. The few episodes of any of them Ive seen are just idiotic beyond belief and anything related to reality is well, missing.

Has anyone ever considered what the anorexic and bulimic American population (who largely go undetected because they arent fat) is costing us? No, Docs and other people look at a thin person and assume all is well because thin=healthy. Not.
  
  In any case, I sincerely believe a large part of the reason Americans eat so much fast food and things which are unhealthy for them is because a LOT of Americans do not know how to cook, and furthermore, they dont know what constitutes a healthy diet or how to plan a menu. We need to re-institute some kind of mandatory classes in schools again for nutrition where the kids actually get to learn what healthy foods are, and how to prepare them. Boys and girls alike. It needs to start young, like Pre-K Or K. Waiting until High School like the Home Ec classes of yore is too late.
